How long is the sequence? Exporting smaller XML segments from FCP and importing into PR doesn’t help?
The touted ease of converting projects from FCP was part of what got me to switch to PR.
I found it took a lot of tinkering, and initially saw results like yours.

The other issue I’ve had with these imports is that my true stereo audio tracks imported as dual mono, and can’t be changed in Pr without revising the characteristics of each original shot and reinserting it into the edited timeline.

Or course not everybody has true stereo recordings and some like the dual mono structure.

I had a similar issue when I imported an FCP7 XML into a PR CC timeline a while ago. Lots of clips with red stripes that wouldn’t link to anything and repeated clip names and missing and disordered clips.

I noticed the first part of the timeline looked OK so I converted the 40 minute FCP sequence into two separate XMLs, imported each separately into PR and then put them in a single sequence. That worked.

Hitchcock’s The Rope has interesting “natural” concealed cuts — 1 for each reel change. To reinforce the illusion that the film is one continuous take. You have to look closely for them.

Is QT on a Mac less vulnerable or invulnerable to viral threats?

Does QT on Windows have a large enough user base to be of interest to hackers?

Just wondering.

Use Apple hardware/operating systems/software at your own risk. They could be orphans tomorrow, victims of sudden deprecation.

There are three factors that come in to play technically, not just the software and the hardware but also the operating system. For example, I’m working with a 2013 Macbook Pro running OS 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) that runs FCP7, PR CC, PR 1014, but won’t run FCP X or CC 2015.

Some of the more recent operating systems won’t run the older software–when you buy a new Mac you are buying the most recent OS.

Did your editor do any useful work on your film before you? parted ways? If you want to continue with a draft edit, maybe better stay in the same software.

The general word is that it’s better not to switch software and OS in the middle of a project. I was able to switch an FCP7 project to a PR CC project, but am left with some problematic audio formatting because of the way FCP ingested the footage. I can’t undo stereo tracks that were ingested and rough cut as dual mono.

Do you have experience cutting with any of these NLEs? I would imagine PR fairly easy to pick up from scratch–it seems a little more intuitive. But it can be hard to learn what all the little buttons mean in the interface, and which little buttons enable which procedures. The documentation is limited.

Sounds cool, but I’m still working in “legacy” Pr CC (7.2.2) on a film. It passed through FCP7 and there were already issues with converting to PR 2013, and more for a conversion to Pr 2014.

Meanwhile I’m paying via subscription model for all these lovely new updates that won’t run on my computer because they require different OS, and I don’t want to break my working combination of PR CC and OS 10.8.5

Of course I could pay more for an additional computer to run the Adobe updates . . .

One day I’ll get to try them out, but I think the subscription model is delivering more value for folks who are using all the updates 🙂 🙁 Enjoy!

In CC2013 the only thing that shows up in Windows>Extensions is >Adobe Exchange.
In CC2014 the >Extensions line is grayed out.

Yet in the finder the extension app appears as /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/com.ivoreemint.postNotes.zxp

which is how the developer says it’s supposed to be.

There’s another folder in there . . . com.adobe.DesignLibraries.angular — don’t know what that is.

Thanks for your thoughts. Maybe it’s working for folks with CC 2015 or later. Though the developer said it should work with the CC2013 and CC2014 that I’m using. I’m not using any extensions, but am using Red Giant plug-ins.
