I have had the same problem!! I import my MP4 into my Premiere Pro 5.5 version and the audio is off! The audio and video are perfect when viewing in Windows Media Player!

I got an easy solution I figured out all by my own…no help…just plain old common sense (and I am not well versed in sound). Okay, the work around is you right mouse click on the audio track file in Premiere Pro and select, “Edit Clip in Adobe Audition” or “Sound Booth”. Now, you will notice on a single track that only a mono track will show (probably the left side or top). The right track is missing. Okay, before you doing anything, do a control-A to highlight the entire mono sound file. Now mute the mono track by clicking the “L” letter to the far right of the program (I am doing this is Adobe Audition). Now that the left side is muted, do a Control-V and the track will be posted in the right channel. HOWEVER, the decibels will need to be adjusted, because for whatever reason, a copy and paste does not paste the exact same decibels. In order to do this, you will need to raise the decibels…just eyeball it and match the left channel (there should be a grid so that you can eyeball exactly where the decibels should be). Now, you need to un-mute the “L”. Finally, do a Control-S for save and the save file will automatically upload into your Premiere Project…replacing the old sound file instantly (meaning you don’t have to drag and drop the newly created stereo track.

I have come across the same problem and found out two things:
1) The menu would not play the audio for whatever reason, because it was a MP3 file. I imported a WMA file from the same folder and it played it just fine in the menu.
2) I placed the MP3 audio file that I wanted to play in the menu in a folder that was only a couple of folders away from where I kept my Encore files and it was able to play in my menu just fine.
Do I know exactly why it did not work in one folder verse another folder…I have no idea. I found the work around and it works just fine and I am sure the same will go for you.

I had the same problem as described in this thread, but the last reply gave me the answer to my problem. I have provided a link of a screen capture shot of my CS2 program, which shows how I fixed it…for those who like visuals.

I got the same error message and when I was reading the response about menu and stop markers, I was able to solve the problem.
First of all, I erased a couple of markers and replaced them in. Plus, I do not think I had a menu marker at the beginning of my project. You need to have a menu somewhere (makes sense). The menu marker is green! Make sure you go to the beginning of your project and place a menu marker there. If you follow this…it should solve your problem!

You are so right Eric…it took me several hours to figure it all out trying so many different ways. I have a Sony Handycam HDR-SR11 and it does not come with a firewire port, which is required to capture video through APP; however, it does have a HDMI port and I am hoping the I can capture the footage through that port…but I have to buy a cable for it. And I know for certainty that APP can not capture footage from the camcorder using USB.
If the HDMI port does not work, than I am stuck using the Sony’s software editing program…which is as basic as you can get or I just import the footage through the MPEG output setting and scale up the footage and add the cinmon converter to adjust for pixelating.

Okay, I changed the settings to HDV 720p30 with better results, but still, the footage is smaller than the screen size. The imported footage is shown at 100% in the picture below…unaltered! I have also attached a picture of the footage properties.

What size is your graphics card…how many megabytes? How much RAM do you have on your computer? Can you hear the audio just fine?

Actually, Andrew was not talking about the bright light that occurs when two lightsabers hit, but speaking of the intersect of two lightsabers…rather than just have one lightsaber on top of another (which doesn’t look good)…Andrew explains that changing the mode to “Lighten” will solve the problem at the certain frame…but when I do this, it effects all the frames.
Andrew doesn’t even address about the big pulse of light when two light sabers hits one another.
If anyone reading this thread could offer help or suggestions…it would be great…please view Andrew’s short lightsaber tutorial, which I am speaking of, so you can tell exactly what I am saying…just fast forward to the end.
