In my case no, I don’t think my FS7 will even record at anything but 24/48. I doubt the F55 will either.

I am planning on trying 12.3.2 within the next hour or so and am hoping it is better. I tried opening a case online but it apparently did not complete. If 12.3.2 is not working I will try again or call them tomorrow.

AVC-Intra IS h.264. It is intra frame as opposed to the long GOP formats that cheaper cameras use. I have a HPX-300a that shoots AVC-Intra.

The intra frame formats compress each frame individually and are easier to decode/playback than the long GOP (Group Of Pictures) formats and much less prone to artifacts.

Even though it’s the lower res it could be h.264 which is still hard to decode. Unlike most(all?) other edit packages, Avid does not use the GPU for accelerating playback.

I have a 2009 MacPro that handles 4k pretty well but I do prefer to use Resolve to give me DNxHR or DNxHD from the camera originals then I relink after picture lock. On the MacPro I have 24GB RAM, SAS RAID 0, and a GTX Titan.

I’m having a similar issue with XAVC-I from an FS7. If export to DNxHR I get no audio. If I export using the ProTools preset I get audio but it is garbled.

I am going to test with 12.3.2 and if it still is broken I will open a ticket with support. I posted to the BMD Resolve forum and got not replies.

I did not see it mentioned but were the dailies created in Avid or Resolve or something else?

Does where they are created matter?

And by the way, as MP knows, some versions of Resolve roundtrip better than others. I suppose their may be some blame for Avid in this as well.

Concur with these thoughts. Slowness in trim mode is almost always related to the version of the driver for an I/O device. If one has a Blackmagic device one should try different version of Desktop Video to find one that works correctly in one’s environment.

Thanks for taking a look at it, much appreciated. I put your comments on the page with credit and a link to 24p/wordpress. Maybe the long holiday will allow me to outline the trip back and why I believe it is important.

I am still surprised at how may folks recommend transcoding workflows that don’t allow one to reconnect to the camera originals for grading/finishing. Some of the ol Pros should know better. As you know, some if not many, of the codecs and/or containers that Avid does not support are supported in Resolve and other apps that allow one to trip back and connect to the cam originals.

Ok, …off the box;-)

By the way, I have not had issues with audio coming from Resolve that I can recall.

As you folks may know by now, the gentleman in that thread had a defective unit.

I still disagree with Guru Phillips, many editors have desks with rack mounts built in or close by. My DNxIO is very quiet considering the fans appear to be always on.
