November 6, 2013 at 4:15 pm in reply to: Does anyone out there have a Proavio EB400CR?

    This is frustrating.

I too am looking for real numbers for throughput using SATA 6Gb/s from my Mac Pro.

Anybody run a test? AJA test preferably.

I am interested in the 8TB version and am ready to checkout at Videoguys.

    Thanks,

November 5, 2013 at 2:08 pm in reply to: Drive Bay Power Suppy For Titan

That where i got mine from:

    https://www.amazon.com/FSP-Certified-Crossfire-PCI-Express-X5/dp/B002IZE5RE/...

Works great with a Titan in a MacPro.

    That’s the one I bought last night. I said 400w but it’s 450w.

Thanks for letting me know it works:)

  • Hey Folks,

The FSP Group drive bay power supply is no longer.available. Anybody find another good one? The only other one I found is only 220w or so.

    Thanks in advance,

September 9, 2013 at 9:37 pm in reply to: Switching between MC 6 and MC 7, HUGE PROBLEM!!!!

    [Sara Convery] “I have Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
and MC7 specs say Quad Core Xeon (and I am not clear how these are different except in name)”

I don’t recall if you said how much RAM in the other thread, but more is better. Usually on Mac Pro’s you do multiples of 3 sticks. On MacBook Pro’s just put in the max.

I have MC7 running fine (don’t due multiple layers of effects) on a non-approved 2010 MacBook Pro 17″ with the original i7 and 8GB RAM. Using external RAID0. Once the AMA works better I will probably put it on my Mac Pro as well.

    Hope that helps,

August 17, 2013 at 2:38 pm in reply to: Backup and Archiving

Disclaimer: I offer archiving and IT services.

    I make an LTO backup

    Yes,

Please Please Please, do NOT rely on spinning disks. If you use hard drives in the short term you should have the files in at least three places, one of which is in a location separate from your editing computer. The Academy and others have white papers on proper archiving and the procedures of some film libraries.

I am surprised that some folks that a notalentwannabe like myself looks to for guidance are not on top of this issue. We stand to loose many movies.

    Sincerely,
    Robert A. Ober

July 30, 2013 at 11:31 pm in reply to: now every time I restart the CUDA is not recognized

[andrew sableton] ” Never mind, got it working. For some reason the /System/Library/StartupItems folder was not owned by the root account so the CUDA.kext driver was not loading at startup. “sudo chown root:wheel /System/Library/StartupItems” fixed it.”

Solved my issue with 9.1.5 as well.

    Thanks,

[Mark Suszko] “I believe there is, it’s a stand-alone quicktime viewer app, but darned if I can recall the name right now.”

Thanks, I have several third party viewers so I will play with them.

    Take it EZ,
