    Tim,

What you described with Govt. work sounds like what I’m looking for! So how do I take the first step? I’ve become very familiar with the ‘broadcast’ way of job hunting, but outside of that…it seems like you need to know the ‘secret handshake’ to break in! Thanks for the input!

Great points! Thank you, Bill! You’ve pretty much confirmed what I suspected all along. Am I correct in assuming that corporate video offers no more job security than any other position these days (perhaps less due to the fragile nature of the economy)? The reason I’m asking about all this is because I’m kind of ‘weighing my options’ and taking stock of what other opportunities are available. I appreciate the comments, though! Keep em’ coming!

I guess I should’ve specified: What types of full-time opportunities are available in the corporate world? I know that it’s fairly commonplace for small to medium-sized corporations to outsource video work, but I also know that some companies have a ‘media services’ department or something of the like.

  • Okay! That did the trick! Thanks, guys…I appreciate the help! It’s always the small, stupid stuff that trips you up!

  • Arndt,

Thank you for the prompt response! I tried your suggestion, but with no luck!
Here’s a screenshot of what I’m talking about. Hopefully, it will clarify things a bit.

    Thanks!

    Dave,

Thanks for sharing your settings. I would need to encode either :15 or :30 commercials to burn to DVD. I would imagine that wouldn’t take too long using the settings you described, correct? Thanks again!

    Dave,

What settings do you use in Compressor? This would be a HUGE help! Thanks in advance!

Why are you purchasing Keylight? It should come pre-installed in AE CS3 Professional. The Foundry (the company that makes Keylight) allows you to download the latest updates to Keylight for free…provided that you already have AE with the plug-in installed. Not trying to be a jerk…just wanted to make sure you’re not spending $$$ when you don’t have to. BTW, the latest version of Keylight should work just fine with Leopard.

That’s a good question. I’ve been wondering the same thing, but in my case…It’s using either iDVD or DVD Studio Pro. What I usually do is render my AE project using the Quicktime Animation codec (with all settings on the highest quality possible), then import the QT movie into FCP and export it as a QT movie using the DV NTSC 48kH setting. This seems to work the best for me quality-wise (though it DOES seem pretty ass-backwards). If there’s a more direct way, I’m all ears!
