BVM-D24 and BVM-D32 Grade-1 CRT’s are a somewhat precious commodity which are allot of work to maintain and for which you can no longer get a new CRT replacement. Your best path is probably a HP Dreamcolor (used) fed through it’s Display Port interface.
More than $200 though.

Also are you bringing an EDL in from FCP? There are a few different framerate settings in the setup page and I think the timeline playback has to match the framerate of your FCP project which is probably 23.98 (23.976) 24.00 fps is usually only for Film/Data originated projects that are going to DCI/Filmout.

23.98 fps is what you want to use Michael I assume that you followed the BMD configuration guide as far as what cards go where in the Mac-Pro etc. You should be getting a green bar on the top of the viewer on the Resolve GUI on playback. Also i can email you the 2D LUT for the Panasonic 11UK Plasma on Monday when I am back from vacation.

I just got a set of GTX480’s for a second machine based on that chart, seems like the newer cards would only really be a necessity for the larger amounts of GPU Ram for 4k work.

Lots of Cuda cores and big memory plus a PCIe V3 bus but does anyone outside of the celebrity gaming community even own one yet? Do you need to do allot of work at 4K in real time? I have 3 x GTX-285 and can do just about anything in 2K that anybody would ever want.

So with multiple Linux Resolve machines do you run a Mac-Pro as a Pro-Res render station sort of like Baselight Compressor? And if so do you just share the database and open the project (with shared media) in the OSX machine only to render Pro-Res?
i.e. Prores as the last reason to run OSX?

I am planning to re format my machine soon and build a second one and both of them will be dual boot with Lion installed as a “Hack” and Win-7 on another partition. The workstation hardware available right now in the PC/Linux world just crushes the Mac-Pro. I also don’t think Thunderbolt is all that big a deal on a desktop machine.

I think that is auto switching like all of the Macbook-Pro’s and that you can use either the Intel 4000 GPU or the 650m but not both at the same time.

The new Macbook “Pro” has some interesting features but I am glad I got a 17″ MBP a few months ago. As fast as any laptop can be they are not a real substitute for a serious desktop machine especially in terms of GPU performance.
I think it is pretty clear what direction that Apple is going in and that it does not really include heavy professional application use like what we all do in the Film/TV industry.
