September 17, 2010 at 6:41 pm in reply to: Snow Leopard and FCS 3 making extra render timesThanks Rafael that would be great. I did disarm Quicktime X and am back with QT7 things are working better but still long export times even with native codec and prores 422. Very curious why release an OS that slows everything? Why not give aheads up to the industry? Curses!!!

September 17, 2010 at 5:10 pm in reply to: 10 minute sequence taking one hour to export to QTKyle,
Many editors here are suggesting to lose the Quicktime X option that came with Snow Leopard. I experienced some of the same problems you are and have found you have to associate all files to launch with QT7 instead of X.
Ctl click on any .mov file and click ‘more info’. You will see an ‘open with Quicktime Launcher’ and you must change this to QT7 and then ‘Apply to all’. Hopefully this will solve your problem. I recently installed Snow Leopard and had to do this to all my units. Then make sure QT7 is updated or go Pro which is best, QT 7 is on the Snow Leopeard disk under ‘Additional Installs’ or get it from the apple website.Hope this helps.Adapt and overcome!

September 10, 2010 at 7:33 pm in reply to: Snow Leopard and FCS 3 making extra render timesI did install on top for the OS but did full wipes and reinstalls on FCS 3. Why would this make my export and render times longer though?

Be sure to set your sequence settings properly, render to the ProRes format instead of the “same as sequence codec” or it will tell you it is conforming an mp4 when you try to render.

Of course I meant FCS3, egads, I dont think I would get nearly half as confused if I were still running FCP3. Ahh the days of only one screen full of codecs are long gone!

You should just be able to apply the filter to the clip in the timeline and select your levels. Try making it a subclip and that should work.

I am currently running 4 iMac (2007) with leopard and FCP 3 and it works fine. I do have some slower rendering issues but am maxxed at 4GB Ram. It will do what you want but beware of tryig to network the new imac7’s they dont like it I hear.n

February 25, 2010 at 5:36 am in reply to: Find the sequence that contains the missing media? You should be able to point to any file and Ctrl+click say View in Finder.Follow the path of the missing files carefully and this will at least tell you where FCP is looking.

Try deonterlacing your source video when exporting from your timeline. This has worked fore when using jpeg’s wiht any motion or movement.
