I’ve noticed that the interlacing now seems to be better. Maybe I’m wrong but I never really could tell if the fields were being output correctly when using interlaced and 3:2 pulldown stuff. I still have a pro tube monitor which I can verify that. Now I get the field flicker when paused and full sharpness on 3:2 material on playback. Before it always seemed like some sort of field blend was going on it just never seemed quite right.
I was having problems with CC and video out and found it my NVIDIA drivers needed to be updated and I upgraded to Cuda 5.5. It seems like I’m really getting full on broadcast quality out now. This is on OSX 10.8.4

My favorite audio mixing app is Nuendo for numerous reasons but a big one is that it’s so flexible I can setup it up however I want. I think that’s a good approach for Adobe here. Give people what they want and more people will adopt PPro.

Just an update, if I use a Canon XF seq it seems to work OK. If I use my custom ProRes seq, the BM seq, or AVCHD, I get the strobing. I have check the transmit setting and it is on.
And also the video that strobes is from a multi cam seq. If I turn on the multi cam mode in the record monitor, it does not strobe. It is a simple 2 cam seq.

I’m having issues too with the BM card. I have a kona but haven’ tried installing that. I get video that turns on and off during playback from the T/L through the BM at about 4 times a second. Vid black vid black…. It appears ok if I match in and play from the source viewer. Also I believe this was OK until I upgraded PPro CC to the patch that came out the other day but not positive.
Also I thought the video card specific sequence settings had gone away. Kind of confused to see those back again at least for the BM card. Maybe that’s only for the BM codec. The sequence settings had no effect, tried several. Some media in my seq played OK. The entire seq plays perfectly in CS6.
Also I noticed the BM resolution settings seem to be gone in the view settings. Is that moved somewhere?

[Michael Gissing] “Sorry Chris but I really think this is function conforming to form which is style based.
If not then why has this form factor never been used by seriously players who make money out of power to space ratios and thermal efficiency?
“Exactly. I’m sure this is a great computer and will run well but all I can say though is that my reaction to the G5 was “wow, what a cool computer I want one!”. The Mac Pro was “even cooler” and I own my second one now. This one is like “why bother?”. I’m sure I’ll be able to get the same or better performance from a Hackintosh or PC for less money whenever I decide to upgrade. Apple has pretty much lost me. The things they are doing just don’t make sense to me anymore nor do I NEED to follow them as I once did. They have become irrelevant sad to say.

[Nicholas Zimmerman] “I think Resolve is going to be one of my biggest reasons to get the new Mac Pro. At the moment I’m on a 3,1 8 core with a Radeon 5870 1GB, and I average between 10-20 fps, I’ve got no doubt that the new machine will absolutely blow that away.”
I get around 70fps of 1080 on my 12 core with a GTX 570. And if you want even more then people are using external PCI boxes. Once again Apple has stepped away from the “Pro” world. I know people who hack sawed off the handles on a Mac Pro to rack mount them. What are people in on location type situations gonna do with this?
If I stay with OSX which I still like, then a Hackintosh will probably be the way I go whenever I look to buy a new machine. With the old Mac Pros you had an amount of flexibility as to what you put in there, I still find that to be important and don’t see the box type form factor as something that needed to be fixed.
Apple’s stock started slipping during the keynote. Can’t be good.

February 15, 2013 at 2:26 am in reply to: Marking out on the timeline is one frame too long!I do, believe me. And I’ve got a whole list ready to fire off when I get a chance to put it together. PPro has great potential but it needs some work yet to be the everyday editor at the places I work. I believe it will get there though or hope it does because I really don’t enjoy working with Avid.
