The reason is to archive the event and project to Blu-ray DATA discs so I can re edit the project in the future without having to reconnect the media.

When I edited the project the first time my video files are ALL over the place. This time around I want to edit the project and archive the whole thing again.

after reading this thread, you need to double click the text. It will highlight with with a white box. click and drag the puck it gives you.

Make sure the transform effect is off. That is located in the viewer window as a box with a left pointing arrow. Make sure that is turned off.

We did this. Blu-ray prices are higher per GB than hard drives but I “feel” like they’ll fail less.

You can use Roxio burning software which makes DATA discs and spans multiple discs. It will label them “disc 1, disc 2, etc.” It’s really efficient. We archive on blu-ray disc with a simple word document.

We write on the discs using sharpies “Project name and number XXX, Date, subject” we also write this on the folders too.

damn, damn, damn. I love me some Mac Pro. We use AJA cards for our MiniDV tapes. (We’re moving away from using them.)

This would make us change from Apple to PC for video editing. Whatever.

Thanks for the reply. It seems like my best bet is to keep zooming into the video because I need to set my in points by the word. That requires exact editing. I just miss that little middle window and the ability to focus only on the audio.

Yep. Turning off the waveforms cut down on the beach balls. Both in the event library and the timeline.
