    hey fellow Premiere Pro users,

20+ years of Avid and many FCP, I’m jumping into Premiere Pro,
having MAJOR problem with audio disappearing.

If I understand the above post, by simply dropping the source audio back into the timeline, the audio re-appears,
this procedure is not working for me.

I could match and re-insert, but save and quit app. then open and error is back – no audio

I’ve not done anything unusual, no extra apps on my Mac.
Earlier sequences are fine, I’ve reprocessed the “dodgy” file to .mpeg and .mov – still no audio, of course source file plays at Finder OK

I’ve lost 2 days so far!!

    any help greatly appreciated 🙂

    hey Nathan,

I’m having exactly the same problem with the same file formats.

I see this was a while ago, have you had any success?

    thanks,

    Rob

Hey Guys & Gals, not sure if this is related, but recently upgraded to FCP 5.1.2. We also have Avid Xpress Pro 5.5.3 on same G5. After the upgrade FCP wouldn’t open. Moved the Avid codecs out of Library/Quicktime folder and FCP would start. However Avid would also work fine with these codecs moved, ie out of appropriate folder. So it seems FCP was clashing with the Avid codecs. So I would run FCP no problems as long as the codecs weren’t in Library/Quicktime folder. So I would regularly move codecs, a minor nuisance. However a few days ago I started FCP with the codecs back in Library/Quicktime folder. And now the system is working the way it should? Go figure??
    thanks,
    Rob

  • Jason, this is a case of Avid being too clever, ie always associating with original project. I looked at this issue years ago when I started Avid editing. The only way I understand is to break the connection with the original project, that is consolidate in a different project.

    good luck
