Don,
Unfortunately the live stream has been cancelled, per Michael Horton.

The point is that I know several people that want to purchase new Macs, but have hardware and software that is not compatible with Snow Leopard (Duel Systems ExpressCard adapter for Panasonic P2 cards and some AJA equipment).
The hardware hasn’t changed on the current machines from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I was just thinking that technically it should be possible to put Leopard on them, as long as you’re installing at least the version of Leopard that came with that particular model when it started shipping, or newer.
I didn’t want to tell somebody that it would definitely work, and then it not. Just wondering if anyone has tried it yet and what their experience was.

What if I install the Leopard on another Mac Pro, then swap the hard drives?

Thanks for updating the post with what you found. This solution worked for me as well. Thanks!

Hi Kevin. Yes, my first install was as an upgrade over the top of FCS2. Monday night I removed everything and did a clean install, but it didn’t help. I guess I’ll go back and try reinstalling it again, and double checking that I didn’t miss removing something.
Thanks for the help.

The templates are there and work fine in Motion. There is no option under FCP during the install to not include them – they’re in the Motion portion, and I installed everything in the suite except the PAL stuff.

I’m doing the exact same thing as you. No matter what method I use to put the templates on the timeline (or preview them in the Viewer), all I get is white screen.

I did some more checking….
I went to where the templates are located (Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Templates/). The preview QuickTime movie there plays fine in the finder and QuickTime Player. The .png file thumbnail look fine as well. I opened the .motn Motion file in Motion, and everything is there and works fine. So for some reason Final Cut Pro just isn’t seeing the files correctly, I guess.
Anyone?

Well, I guess I’m glad I’m not the only one… but sorry you’re having problems too.
Did you do an update over the top of FCP6, or were you doing clean installs?

Craig – thanks for the insight and recommended apps. I downloaded Videospec and it says that both files (compressor created and episode created) are 720 x 480. Not sure why they look different. I took a screen shot of the one from compressor (it was 640 x 480) opened it in Photoshop and stretched it to 720 x 480. It looks correct.
The funny thing about the colorspace part is they accepted the HD version of the spot, which I encoded in compressor. So I’m guessing the 422 thing is more of a recommendation than rule.
The only mpeg2 encoding I’ve done is for DVD, so this has been a learning experience.
