Well, apparently it wasn’t a memory issue. I opened the file, copied the timeline contents and then pasted it into a new project timeline. I was able to render to both MPEG and WMV with no problem. The only thing I can think it was is that I had been using the same timeline over and over to produce several movies. I would delete everything from the timeline and add the new content, rename it and then render. Perhaps after doing this several times the file got corrupted or something?

That’s correct. I didn’t have this problem before the update. I have completely cleaned up my hard drive and the problem still exists. I don;t know which audio driver I am using but I will look for an update there too. I am loading the timeline, both audio and video files, from an external hard drive. I wonder if this has something to do with it. I will try putting them on the internal hard drive and see if the problem persists. I could also try upgrading to vegas 10

My camera is recording in 16:9 format so it must be the rendering of the project in vegas. I will check it and try rendering future videos in widescreen format.

I am using a sony DCR-SR80 and it records in MPG format. This format has known issues when importing into Movie studio 9. The video line imports fine but not the audio line. Call vegas video tech support to download the known fix.

I am using a Sony HD camera. I called the tech support yesterday and they said this is a known issue with MPG files. He had me download a couple of patches and Violá, I am back in business. Life is good again.
