  • audio problems when importing into vegas

I downloaded the trial version of vegas from the Sony website and am thrilled with the product. It is much easier than the software I had been using. The only problem I have had so far is when importing footage into the timeline the audio is non existent. The video imports fine but not the audio. This is not a big issue for me at the moment because I overdub the audio anyway as I am doing instructional videos. I shoot the footage on a Sony HD camera and it is in MPG format. Any help is much appreciated.

What camera do you have? Are you using Vegas pro 8? Is there an error message that is displayed? Is there an audio track with an event on it but just with a flat line?

If you are filming in HDV and it is producing an M2T file, there should be audio.

I am using a Sony HD camera. I called the tech support yesterday and they said this is a known issue with MPG files. He had me download a couple of patches and Violá, I am back in business. Life is good again.

Would you mind sharing what type of camera (model) and still give some details? I have never heard of issues importing M2T files with no audio. Were the files AVCHD?

Anyways, I just wanted to see if you would satisfy my curiosity.

I am using a sony DCR-SR80 and it records in MPG format. This format has known issues when importing into Movie studio 9. The video line imports fine but not the audio line. Call vegas video tech support to download the known fix.

What patches did you download? I have this problem too and I think those patches could help me a lot.
