Oh, I was onto them first thing. I’ve now gotten some responses. So far it looks like a problem at their end. Trying to track it down. Thanks.

thanks for the note, Dougal. I use Calibrated only for CatDV, so I have to figure out how to use it with anything else. First attempts show that I can’t open MXF files directly in Quicktime. But then when I use Pro Player (from Digital Heaven) I can play a file (without sound) and low and behold, it stops three minutes in. Hmmm. I’m going to try importing into iMovie X and see what happens.

Yes, it’s working fine. It’s cooking making about 60 hours worth of proxies right now.

No, MYSql isn’t set to do anything but run at startup. That’s about all I know about anyway. I run backups of the CatDV database manually, and store them on a Transporter Drive folder, so they’re backed up in multiple places, including a mirrored Transporter at my house.

I got it. Something got lost for some reason, even though the installation showed as correct in the wizard. I’m not sure what fixed it. I was able to navigate to the dump file. For whatever reason I was allow to view the hidden files and folders. But I also went and loaded one of the local catalogs and published it to the server. It was then that I tried restoring the database again. All of a sudden it worked and everything is back where it should be, correct schema and all.

Yeah, I figured it out, thanks. I grabbed the wrong version of workgroup server to start with. And it didn’t help when I kept trying to enter the CatDV Pro serial number instead of the Workgroup serial. Sheesh.

Ok, I fixed that by going to the next version of the server software. But then once I restored the database I had to drop back a version because the database was in 3.22. I finally got it to work.

    “harumph”
I keep forgetting that I can select “AMA only” when I do this. I’ve gotten so used to Transcoding ahead of time that i don’t do it often enough. Just helped when I wanted to send a linked AAF project over to ProTools and the audio was stuck in a MOV file that Pro Tools wasn’t in love with.
    Thanks

Ah, very helpful and reassuring. I can move ahead on this. Life will be a lot easier when I finally get newer machines at the studio. I have to run home when I want to use Media Composer 7, Pro Tools 11 or Resolve (now 11.1). Hoping that Pegasus is answer a lot of problems.
