Hi Alex,
Maybe it is possible to select the stabilized clip and then make it a new compound clip. If you then cut that clip and apply a different color correction to both parts and apply a crossfade?
I’m not behind a Mac where I can try this, but I think it might work.good luck,

I’ve just watched it here in the Netherlands.
Great interview, beautifully shot, lit and edited.
Compliments to all involved.Regards,

Hi Jeremy,
I noticed something similar. I wanted to enter scene numbers for several clips at once. I selected them in the event browser and when I moved over to the inspector (the video tab was active and it said “4 items to inspect”) and clicked on the info tab the inspector window changed and said “nothing to inspect”
I used Digital Rebellions Preference Manager to trash the FCPX preferences and now it does work.
Maybe this helps for your problem as well. It seems related.regards,

Hi,
I just discovered that the page curl, which is used in my Photo Album Effect is not working anymore.
For a quick test I created a new FCPX effect in Motion 5.0.1, applied a page curl to the effect source, saved the effect, switched back to FCPX.
The effect immediately showed up in the effect browser (I’m running Lion, so that seems to be fixed) and when hovering over the effect I could preview the effect in the viewer (there was a clip selected).
Unfortunately the effect doesn’t show when applied to the clip although it says to be present in the info pane.
Can anyone confirm this behaviour?thanks,

You and Simon really can’t get enough of it 🙂
The sheer amount you guys are producing. Impressive!
I have only read all your posts but haven’t downloaded them yet.
That will have to wait untill I’m back from holiday.
I’m curious to see how long the list has grown when I get back.
Meanwhile I wish you all a lot of crative ideas.Cheers,

Thank you Eli,
I’m feeling honoured and I’m curious to see your result.
A year ago I was making a small documentary for a WWII-resistance museum in Amsterdam and I could use some old photographs from the person the documentary was about. It was then that I made this Photo Album animation in After Effects. With the introduction of Motion 5 and FCPX I realised that maybe it would be possible to turn it into a FCPX effect. It took me a few days to figure it out but I also learned a lot about the program. I think it is really powerful and giving it away for free is my way of saying thanks to all people sharing their knowledge on this and other forums. I learned so much from these forums the past years.
So I’m glad you can use it in your work.Kind regards,

HOW TO SET UP A PHOTO ALBUM.
____________________________________STEP 1: The Cover Page.
If you start the build of an album you would first use the Cover page. Here you have 2 options:
1) – Cover Page+Single Photo Page
This is a page with a protection sheet and 1 picture. The page has a dark grey paper background.
After choosing this option continue with:
STEP 2.2) – Cover Page+Photo Page for Multiple Photo’s
This is a page with a protection sheet and because this one has a transparent background, you can use this to put the next photo underneath this one.
After choosing this option continue with:
STEP 1a.
____________________________________STEP 1a: More than one photo on the page:
Put the clip for the next PHOTO on that same page directly underneath the first clip and make sure it starts and ends at the same time as the first clip.
For this clip (PHOTO) you have two options:3) – Subsequent for multiple photos
It has no cover page and no transparent overlayed protection page (these are already present in the first clip) and a transparent background.
If you use this option the clip will be the second (OR third, OR fourth if you stack more clips, but NOT the last as it has no paper background).
After choosing this option continue with:
STEP 1a, option 3)
or
STEP 1a, option 4).4) – Last in Stack for multiple photos.
This option also doesn’t show the cover page and protection page, but it DOES have a grey paper background. So this option is always used on the clip that will be on the the bottom of the stack, so it can be the second AND last, third AND last, fourth AND last, etc. (all clips with the same length, stacked right on top of each other).
After choosing this option continue with:
STEP 2.
____________________________________STEP 2: The next page in the album:
Again two options:
5) – Single photo page
This page has no cover but does have the protection page and does have a paper background).
After choosing this option you are finished if it is the last page in your album, ELSE continue with:
STEP 2 option 5)
or
STEP 2 option 6).6) – Top in stack for multiple photos
This page has no cover, does have the protection page but does NOT have a paper background (background is transparent).
If you chose this option you can put the clip for the next PHOTO on that same page directly underneath the this clip and make sure it starts and ends at the same time as this clip.
After choosing this option continue with:
STEP 1a, option 3)
or
STEP 1a, option 4).You can repeat this process for as many pages you want to create.
____________________________________Timing
For the timing of the PAGES (a single clip can be a page, or a stack can be a page) make sure that you move every NEXT page (clip or stack) TWO seconds to the left in the timeline and UNDERNEATH the PREVIOUS page (clip or stack). By doing this the animation will be as follows:
0 – 1 sec – just the cover page is shown
1 – 2 sec – the cover page is turned over
2 – 3 sec – the protection sheet is turned over
3 – 4 sec – the picture(s) is/are shown (longer if you extend the clip’s length.
Last 1 sec – the photo page is turned over revealing the next photo page starting at the 2-3 sec point. For the rest of the controls you’d best try them out. They are quite self explanatory.

Thanks Simon. And to answer your question I can be very short: Yep!
But it was very satisfying getting it to work the way I intended.
I’m going to enjoy my holidays now. Thank God my MacBook Pro is too old to run Motion 5 and FCPX. I can’t get tempted the next two weeks 🙂Cheers,
Robbert-Jan
