Hi Eric,
I actually loved my Mac Pro and iMac, but I had to move to Windows based hardware simply because Apple just was NOT keeping up on the hardware front. I could get projects rendered and completed so much faster on my Windows hardware and just can’t wait 3-5 years for Apple to decide “if” they’ll upgrade the Mac Pro.
But I did love Motion and Final Cut (X has some growing pains) and Shake for that matter … but those are days are no more as time is an important factor in my workflow.
Cheers, Rob.

Many thanks, I think HitFilm Express will do the trick.
I’m disappointed in Adobe’s pricing … I really only use 3 of their products, Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects … yet Adobe don’t offer that combination subscription … have to do individuals at $21 each ($63/mo) or the complete ALL package for $53/mo … so I end up buying stuff I don’t need/use … hence dropped the ALL package so I just have Photoshop and Premiere and thanks to your post HitFilm Express for free.
Does anyone know what happened to Adobe’s MP4 compression support in Premiere? Is it a licensing issue? I had NO issues performance issues with CC 2017 using the exact same MP4’s. But in CC 2018 and CC 2019 using the same MP4’s results in horrible performance and unresponsive UI. I brought this up to Adobe numerous times and their response was add a media conversion process and convert the MP4’s to a different format like HiRes … which adds several hours to my work flow … but why? The same MP4’s work just fine in CC 2017 … so what happened?
Cheers, Rob.

April 30, 2014 at 11:47 pm in reply to: Looking for Video capture device 2560 x 1600 DVI-DL input. Thanks for the response Erik,
All the capture devices I’ve found seem to only support 1080 via HDMI input?
Also, I need to be able to view the output on my main monitor (which only supports DVI-D) while I’m recording it to another PC … I don’t think my video card (nVidia Titan) will output to DVI-D AND duplicate the signal on the HDMI out port so it can be recorded by another PC containing a capture card/device?
For example the Motu HD Express or HDX or even the V4HD will support HDMI input, and will output via HDMI but none of them list the ability to record at 2K or 4K resolutions, only basic HD 1080 formats.
Cheers, Rob.

Oh and why I think there is huge benefit in OpenGL 4.3 is the addition of compute shader which would have a significant impact or particle systems (which C4D has many).

August 30, 2012 at 3:33 pm in reply to: How Can I Make Textures Wrap Around 3D Objects More Realistically In Cinema 4D?What type of texture are you talking about? If you are mapping some canned image and it’s just not fitting well, I’d resort to more primitive surfaces/textures and work those over — it will ultimately provide the best look and additional flexibility.
But if you’re doing a quick and dirty, like wrapping an “Earth” image around a sphere, then you’ll need to massage the source in Photoshop … CS6 has Wide Angle filter that you might be able to use (it can be used to go both ways).

Jerry,
Just wait … CS6 with the right GPUs will make FCPX seem it’s living 10 years in the past … especially Prelude. Sadly the Windows version appears to have the edge once again (hardware support and accelerated support).
I think what I like most about CS6 is how easy it is to customize the interface is and just how well it adapts to one’s work flow.

Thanks for all the input, I went with the 370 … hopefully it will not be a dinosaur tech by next week and something I can live and grow with 😉

Awesome, thank you for the response!
Does the 370 support external mounted LCD and zoom wheel?
Cheers, Rob.

December 22, 2011 at 11:35 pm in reply to: R12 Render to Picture Viewer – Unable to write file? That’s interesting, but I don’t have Finder open and no other app is active or using the file?
Also, that wouldn’t explain when I quit C4D and go back in, it works fine?
I “think” what’s happening is any changes I make to the render settings, after I’ve rendered to Picture Viewer, is placing a lock or “in use” file attribute which is not being cleared by C4D when I exit the Render settings screen.
Wonder if this is fixed in R13?

December 21, 2011 at 5:41 pm in reply to: Can’t add a Cross Dissolve Transition if one clip has a speed change?Freeze in the middle of a dissolve? You lost me, there are no additional handles and there is no way to not do it like this, like I said, I can’t go back and get more footage, just not an option. And the freeze would actually work fine in this case, it’s just someone looking into the camera after completing their presentation … basically static image anyway. It actually works reasonably well give the situation.
So rather than keeping saying the same “GOOD GOD NO”, how about giving me some constructive alternatives to a freeze?
But clearly you haven’t read what I said, so I’ll repeat … make these OPTIONS via FCP Preferences on how to deal with “not enough handles”.
I think Shane is making some bad assumptions of how “Everyone” flows — I don’t see how I’m being pretentious just because I don’t make that assumption … seems to me you have that backwards. Or are you suggesting you can’t correct/disagree with someone because of their experience?
Anyway, I’m willing to listen but no one is saying anything or presenting an alternative?
