With my first printable DVD-Rs I used to print before burning – until I noticed that the data side of the disc had picked up a fair amount of dust in the printer. Even though the printer is used almost exclusively for CDs and DVDs, occasionally it will see a sheet of paper, e.g. to do a “nozzle check” on. And paper leaves fine dust particles in the printer.

Because dust can scatter the laser light of the burner I reversed to process, burn first, then print. 🙂

    Xeeb,

Is there a relation between the video going to black and the use of stills? If so, try exporting the video again from Premiere with the “Optimize Stills” export setting disabled.

    Huy,

If you are using Encore version 1.0, make sure to update to 1.0.1:

    Dave,

If you want control over how the MPEG-2 for a motion menu background is encoded you would need to use an external encoder (e.g. the Adobe Media Encoder in Premiere Pro or a 3rd party encoder like Cinemacraft Basic). The background video has to contain everything, including any full color buttons or video thumbnails. The only thing to be added in Encore is the subpicture highlighting. Adding anything else would force Encore to re-transcode the menu video.

Navigate to the “Goodies” folder on the Encore installer DVD. 🙂
