April 6, 2005 at 8:36 pmOkay, this is the third time this has happened to me, and I can’t seem to figure out what the problem is. It only seems to happen on some projects, but not others. RIght now I am doing a project that is around 30 minutes long, and is a combination of video and image stills. I used premiere to encode it into mpeg-2 and imported it into Encore DVD. For some reason, when I imported it into Encore, it now fades to black after a certain point (roughly 3 minutes into the video). The image comes back in once the song changes, but then fades out again after a few seconds with the new song. What is the deal? is my problem in Encore or Premiere? Thanks.

Is there a relation between the video going to black and the use of stills? If so, try exporting the video again from Premiere with the “Optimize Stills” export setting disabled.

April 6, 2005 at 10:24 pmis it possible that the field dominance might have something to do with it? I set it for Lower, and I am pretty sure Encore is defaulted to lower, but even the stills that do work look like garbage, so I am wondering if I have some field issues. I will try turning off the optimize stills setting.

April 8, 2005 at 2:05 pmHi,
what if you try to export your premiere project as a movie then import the avi file into encore? if it plays that ok then let encore do the encoding.

Thanks for the link… Very useful information. I am just ticked at Premiere and Encore right now. I’ll get over it someday, I guess

If you are still considering using a Mac for authoring, maybe this thread on the dvdquestions.com.au forum is of interest.
