So I figures out I can add selection tags to the box, 6 tags – labels side1 through side6– and then I can add the material to the cloner object and use selection tag as the selection. But I still haven’t found the perfect projection mode that will make the image stick to the side. The closest is flat, but the image is not baked onto the side like I am expecting it too. It still looks projected from the front.

I’d load a 5 second slug in the viewer. then start at the first edit. press F9, click the down arrow (next edit) f9, down arrow, F9 seems like it would be faster than all the mouse clicking and typing.
If you don’t want all those slugs, just insert them into track 2 and when you are done select track 2 and click delete.

The same goes for google images. People think that “because it’s on the web it’s public domain”. I had to point out to a client who insisted on ripping off photos from the web that it clearly says on the google search “image may be subject to copyright”. That still didn’t stop them.
I always inform my clients that this is “illegal” and they all have the same response – “let them sue me”. Since “the customer is always right” I concede. Do any of you say “no, I can’t do that.”? Obviously for certain “greener” clients I say no – or sometimes I blame the resolution being too low for video – but sometimes I just sigh, and do what I’m told by the producer. I’m sure I’ll get a ton of replies informing me that I am the one breaking the law – but that is not the point of this post — the point is what do you say to your clients to get them to stop asking you!?!

You should check out ExtremeReach (or DGFast Channel). We use them for delivery of spots. We upload one HD, on SD version of a spot, then they deliver the files to all the stations either digitally or on tape. Every station has a different deliverable – especially when it comes to HD — this way you don’t have to worry about any of it. And Extreme Reach has an awesome website to keep track of your creative library, traffic instructions, and orders. I can tell my client the minute the station has received the spot!

Yes — this is exactly what I was looking for — I’ll do some more reading about Xref objects.
Thanks!

I like the client off to the side/facing you idea. What do you do about audio? Do you have to sets of speakers?

Bob, I cannot tell if you are being serious or not.
If you are – would a Mac Pro be as fast as an Xserve? They are about the same price — but I am assuming the Xserve has features a desktop computer with file sharing does not – like permissions /admin type of things.
If you aren’t being serious I am still not sure what the difference between a ether based NAS and a server like an Xserve. And I’m not talking about some $200 hard drive with a cat5 plug. I am referring to products like the Buffalo 6TB TeraStation Pro II.
Again, I have worked with and maintained Fibre Channel SANs with xsan and FibreJet – so I know what the creme de la creme is — it’s just in this economy I cannot convince my company to purchase something this substantial. And honestly I don’t think it makes sense to invest $20k in a Ethernet based SAN since we do a lot of HD work. So we are going to continue to use the Sata connected RAIDs for media files – I just am looking for a way to share project files other than our current windows based server and/or the internal mirrored Raids in each edit bay.

Where did you get the 5.0.7? Boris’ site only goes up to 5.0.1.50.
When I click on the Options button, AE freezes. This happens on two of my machines.
