So I figured out a cool way to having flipping boxes animate – I create a box, apply a cloner object to the box, and use a matrix object as the cloner objects mode. I then add a shader effector with a rotation as the parameter, add a very soft linear fall off. Animate the position of the fall off, and woala – a pretty cool animated wall of flipping boxes.

Now, I want to add a video (or picture) to the “front” and when the boxes flip (to another side) reveal another video(picture).

I can apply the material to the cloner object, but I cannot find a projection mode that will stick to the one side, and also scale across the entire cloner object.

If I apply the texture to the box, I can add a tag to select the side — but then I can’t use the cloner to generate all the boxes.

I’m a newbie so any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I figures out I can add selection tags to the box, 6 tags – labels side1 through side6– and then I can add the material to the cloner object and use selection tag as the selection. But I still haven’t found the perfect projection mode that will make the image stick to the side. The closest is flat, but the image is not baked onto the side like I am expecting it too. It still looks projected from the front.
