  • How to space multi clips on a time line at once

Posted by Brian Wolfenden on May 19, 2010 at 3:09 am

I have a time saving question that I need an answer too. I know there has to be a way to solve it. Please help. I have a time line with the project in it. I import a folder of files into the job and drag that down to the time line. I now have my clips arranged with no space between them. (Example [1][2][3][4][5] ) I would like to space them all 5 seconds apart without going to each edit point to move them down the time line. Example [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] Does anyone know of a quick way of doing this. I would rather not go to each edit point in the 47 clip + time line. Any help would be great!! Thanks

This is probably not going to be as fast as you want but…

Select all but the first clip, type “+5.” return, they are all moved 5 seconds, deselect the lead clip and repeat. This should take a couple of minutes to do.

Funny, I’d go back to front. Select the last clip, type “+5.”. Shift select the next clip forward, type “+5.”, etc.

I’d load a 5 second slug in the viewer. then start at the first edit. press F9, click the down arrow (next edit) f9, down arrow, F9 seems like it would be faster than all the mouse clicking and typing.

If you don’t want all those slugs, just insert them into track 2 and when you are done select track 2 and click delete.
