    Mil,

You can get a high quality external preview using your camera as a converter. If you have your preview quality set to best/Full your picture should be very sharp, however your framerate might be low. Have you tried Best/Full? Mine looks good at Preview/Full (except on graphics) which I then set to Best/Full for a good look at that. Maybe your problem is in using your camera as a converter however many folks on the forum have good results doing it that way. I use a DataVideo Converter and I’m happy with it.

What can you tell us about your project setting, and your hardware, Camera, Video monitor.

    Regards, Rick.

[Mil Bogo] “I have connected a TV via my video camera and I could see the output on my TV – but the quality was really poor.”

The perview window in Vegas has selectable quality settings.
Look under preview quality in Vegas help for how to. This quality setting not only applies to your Vegas preview window, bit it also applies to your external monitor.

[Rachel Rosen] “It’s the same sections that don’t save each time”

That would suggest that your clip is corrupted in that
area. Let’s do a test. Open a new fresh project.
Drop one of the clips you are having problems with on
the timeline and render it. If the entire clip renders
without a problem, your clip is fine. If on the other hand it
blacks out then you have some clip corruption and need to
    re-capture the affected clips.

Another thing you might try with your problemed project
is to remove all the new clips you added to see if they are affecting some of your old clips. Even though your new clips are playing does not mean that they are not causing a problem. After all, your project rendered fine until you added these new (better quality) clips.

Maybe you are missing a required codec for certian events in yout timeline or perhaps some of your video clips are offline.

Both are fine programs that can do some impressive things.
I prefer Excailbur for it’s interface and it runs as a custom command which means that it loads when you open Vegas and docks in a toolbar tab always ready for action.

Perhaps you have made a selection area on the timeline and
have the “Render Loop Region Only” box checked in the render area.

March 1, 2008 at 12:16 am in reply to: M-Audio 410 – to any users – static noise

[Neil Moxham] “Try ground lifts on your speakers. Also Make sure that your speakers are plugged into the same circuit that the computer is.”

Lifting your power ground pin is not a smart thing to do.
It may fix a ground-loop but could leed to a fatal
shock. The best thing to do is to get all your gear on the same circuit and verify the integrity of your cables.
In a balanced line (tip ring sleve) you can lift the shield (ground) wire on one end to break a ground-loop.
If you have a have a unbalanced line hum and buzz will come from a broken or poor ground wire.
You can also get what is called induced hum and buzz from
placeing your gear to close to a strong megnetic field such as
a TV Monitor. To fix this, move your gear away from the megnetic field. Lastly lighting dimmers can throw all kinds
of noise into your gear. Get rid of it.

February 29, 2008 at 5:29 am in reply to: Pro-titler text choppy & jagged

[John Magee] “I used “courier” font in pro titler and it looks like hell. rendred to DVDA template. Are there some fonts I need to stay away from, or…?”

    John,

Try to stay away from fonts with thin lines.
To increase the sharpness of your fonts double the
    resolution size while inside titler.
For example default will be 720 X 480,
    increase this to 1440 X 960.
Then at render set qualty to best.
This will give you the sharpest fonts.

Also note that when previewing CG on your
monitor, set the preview quality to full best.
