OK … I know DVD is max of 9,800kbps so maybe I’ll drop it to 12kbps (bit of overhead) and use that.

There is a plan B .. to use existing Blu-ray projects and change timeline to match DVD …. I’ll open separate Q on that to avoid confusion.

Yes … it does give make DVD option – but not using that function ..
What I am doing is using the excellent slide creation software … but instead of using the ‘make DVD’ option.
Using the custom option ,.. to export the video files … as mpeg video (no audio)

Then use these as the video input files into Movie studio … add sound, commentary and other videos to get to final output for DVD architect where I’ll create menus at that point .. not in ProshowGold.

Wayne advised for Bu-ray 1920 x 1080 50fps to set Bitrate to 60,000 Kbit which I did and all worked fine.

Now going to re-render the Proshow files again as custom video 720 x 576 at 25 fps now that is 5x less pixels than Blu-ray image … so looking for a guide as to what Bitrate I should set.
I could leave it at 60,000Kbit but assuming I could significantly drop this.

Mike …. agree and understand that for the output render files.

My question was what should I set on ProshowGold to provide the files which will be the media input file into Movie Studio.
In effect I’m using ProShowGold to create the video files to be dropped into Movie Studio time line

I did a bit of research on magazine reviews, group tests etc.
The winner in all classses it featured in was Sony BD S5500. Plus player of the year.
    Certainly remarkable value for money.
Just timed it (as you mentioned speed) from power-on ready to play in 9 sec.

Really small …packed with features if you want ithem …in my case just a superb BD/DVD player.
Internet hook up wifi or ethernet, which genuinely worked when you selected auto network setup.
I find front USB socket great for plugging in mem stick …and it has played every type of video file I have tried so far.

Also its upscaling h/w must be good all my DVD’s look much better played on this player to 1080p TV.
I’m not some ‘Must be Sony’ fan, this is yge 1st and only oiece of Sony hardware … impressed with it.

Mine has WiFi support but I have it hooked up with Ethernet … has full smart set for Apps, streaming etc., it all just works.
I was amazed the thing is tiny compared to PVR, and quality is superb.

OK .. that is unfortunate, I don’t see that problem .. I have a small Sony Blu-ray player and it has played perfectly on every Blu-ray disc I have bought (or borrowed) and as for loading speed it is as fast as any DVD I have had.
It is fully networked, occasionally it will advise there is updated software .. but this is not a frequent event, and never complained when I put a disc in.

I also have an HD pvr attached to TV and it loads in about 1/2 the time of the PVR.

Maybe I’m lucky and region B works easier 🙂

It does seem strange that they didn’t include 1080p when all modern TV’s are 1080p

For example the European HD TV requirement is that all TV’s displaying HD logo must support 1080p 24 fps, 1080p 50 fps, and 1080p 60 fps formats
All Blu-ray players put out 1080p so they must do h/ware conversion from 25i to progressive.

In Europe we get over the air broadcast of 1080p which is good to have.

Thanks – it is the fact we have 1080p HD TV was causing my concern.
So there is no progressive video at all in Blu-ray disc spec?

Anyway created the disc at 25i and it seems to play fine.

    Thanks to all for help.
