I tested it and it works perfectly. HDV into the Avid finally.
A few issues with audio while scrubbing. It would think the HDSDI audio feed went away. But I clicked OK and pressed Play on the deck and it is all good.

I threw away the long-duration clips generated by the EDL manager and decomposed the timeline it generated.
The new clips have new names and 60 frames more pad (not a bad thing) but these new clips are the correct duration.

Thanks everyone. An even better idea vs. Photoshop is a standalone version of Inscriber. I got one with an old license of Premiere, I wonder if I can even buy it anymore.
I use this exact workflow with Vegas – only it is smart enough to auto-update the media if it changes for whatever reason. Thanks for confirming my suspicion that the Avid titler isn’t designed for editing with clients.

Not really. Once it goes to the timeline its’ sort of considered a separate clip.
You can multi-select the clips on the timeline and drag the attribute to the timeline and they will all update.

Try making the clip temporarily offline I think its CTRL B (sorry not on a mac at the moment). But it’s like “disable” clip. Then, enable the clip. That flushes problems with wonky video it may apply especially if you have filters. It does a tidy reset.

Not with FCP. I use Sound Forge on PC or I think soundtrack on Mac has a noise reduction. Grab some ‘room tone’ of the camera to teach the filter what to take out and it works very well.

I am dissolving from shot A to shot A with a colour effect, so that makes sense.

Chroma key out his shirt to reveal a blurred shirt.
V2 = original logo video with chroma keyer keying out the shirt colour. Blur the matte to extend over the logo
V1 = brown textured up like his shirt, or a blurred version of V3This way when his arm moves across the shirt the keyer will take care of the matte.
That’s overly simple there are other techniques but I think it will work as long as the logo isn’t too big or white!
