Why is it when I do this I still get warnings when burning the disc that the rendered video files have to be recompressed?

OK, I think I found the problem. Apparently, the program defaults to thinking you only want to preview clips in the Trimmer window, so that’s where the output is routed. Unfortunately, unless you double-click on the clip (which opens it in the Trimmer window) you would never know this and would be left as we were wondering where your clip is being displayed. If you click on the Trimmer tab and look for the icon in the upper right that says “Show Video Monitor” when you hover over it, then click it so it is off, the preview will play on your Preview window as it should.

Does the “Set to aspect ratio” command actually resample the image? If so, isn’t that a lot to be asking Vegas to process? Will it add considerably to pre- and final rendering?

Are you kidding me? Why not? Why no mention of this in the manual of help file? I’ve been chasing my tail with this problem for over a week all because the manual says I should be able to do this. Does Pro allow it? If this is indeed how the software works it needs to be better spelled out in the accompanying literature. I mean, it’s hardly unforeseeable that someone coming from SD DV cameras would want to use this feature.
Does HDVSplit support batch capturing? Thanks, Doug. Your Vegas 8 book is on its way to my home. Can’t wait to read it.

Nobody? Can someone at least tell me where to look for this “Advanced Capture” tab and what settings it contains?
