September 30, 2009 at 5:46 pmForgot to add that you need to watch out for the following “gotcha”.
When the Show Video Monitor button in the Trimmer window is selected, video that you preview from the Vegas Explorer and Media Manager windows is played back in the Trimmer. Because the Trimmer is placed in the same window dock as the Explorer and Media Manager, you will not see your video preview. To preview Explorer and Media Manager video, you can drag the Trimmer to a new dock group, or you can turn off the Show Video Monitor button to preview in the Video Preview window.

November 12, 2009 at 3:53 pmHello forum,
I am having the same exact problem.
I have the updated version of Sony Vegas Pro; “8c” using a quad core pc with 3 gig RAM, 32-bit Vista OS.
I am working with .mts files from a Canon HF11 camcorder. I have had no issue, up to this point, working with smaller files being placed on the time line in Vegas, edited with fx added.
I recently recorded a continuous 70 minute event, which the camcorder broke up into 5 separate files.
Importing and placing these files next to each other on the Vegas time line caused hiccups at the changes in file points. I then used the software that came with the camcorder, Pixela Image Mixer 3, to join the files into one, large .mts file.Once I tried to import this large .mts file, Vegas would either crash or, once imported, would crash after trying to do anything on the time line.
I had shot this event for someone and ended up giving them the raw footage joined by Pixela without being able to add video fx or tweak the audio in Vegas.Trying to remedy the situation, I have, so far:
-Disabled firewall, anti-virus
-Turned off as many background programs as possible
-Turned off other background activity in Vista
-Tried both Vegas options: “max render threads” = 1 and 4I am actually in the process of getting rid of the Canon HF11 to get a tape-based Canon HV30 miniDv camcorder, with the understanding that the HDV codec has less issues in Vegas.
I have a few days to change my mind about selling it and, knowing you guys at Creative Cow are an authority on Vegas, wanted to see if someone has a solution and/or would think I should stay with AVCHD, even for recording long events.
Thank You!
–Mark
