Again, just curious if anyone has mixed OS MacPros and is seeing this behavior only on when the Mavericks try to connect to the Mountain Lions.

It is Gigabit to another mac via Bonjour. Something changed in how the connection works for sure in Mavericks. We’ve been connecting this way for 8 years and this is the first time we’ve seen this change in behavior.

I so much want to commit to FCP X. I am not convinced yet that Apple is as serious about editing as I am (with my 13 year old company on the line).

But I am an old Filemaker guy so I get the power of a database.

I want it! But I have a staff of five who are old Media 100/Final Cut guys. Big step.

Premier…not.

There is a new Canon XF Utility for Final Cut 7 that recently came out…it solved our issue. Unfortunately I don’t know where to find it since it was sent to us from a camera man on his FTP and it has been taken down. Let me know if you can’t find it.

We own the C300 so I know of this issue.

We rep BrightSign as well and we control all pushing of content to players across the state. The software is more complicated than authoring DVDs and hard to get your head around plus there is the networking aspect on the client side that could involve different hardware at every site.

But we like the BrightSign workflow….except no Mac version so far….but we are pleading! It takes time to get it all set up and really have a handle how the boxes get new updates, but they are already making iPad apps to update daily content with a simple user interface etc.

Funny, we just had two shoots come back with no audio on one key interview (like none) and super overmodulated audio on 14 minutes of another key interview.

Can’t stress enough how important audio is in this business while we all are focused on shallow depth of field, aerial shots and gimbal shots.

Get the audio right! Hire a skilled audio tech!

This one sounds like it’s gonna sting a bit.

In the past, with the Final Cut Studio, I would simply rename my app file with a unique name so that the new installer would simply create a new file and NOT delete the old one. I did this with the CS series too. I ALWAYS ran both the old version and the new updated version, at least for a while.

In fact, I just deleted all CS 5.1 versions from our computers today as we upgrade to Mavericks.

Isn’t the renaming workflow viable with the CC versions? In other words, by simply renaming the old app file will the new installer create a new app file? Then you could run both and dip your toes into the new stuff without breaking the tried and true installation so you can get work done!

Why not just run Photoshop CS6? It will most likely be the best image editing software that is perpetuity for the next decade.

Why the fuss over an image editing software? Use Photoshop.

Our issue is when a client provides a layered Photoshop CC file that is not backwards compatible with anything we might have.
