I’ve had this issue since day 1 with several versions and mac OSs and computers with media100. i never got an answer or found a solution. Best advice I can give you is not to have QT player open or have other Media 100 windows open or spanning into monitor #2 ,in the process. This usually brings up the odds for a freeze for me anyway and occurs with systems having dual monitors for some reason.

I wish they would gather the windows neatly like every other system.

When this unfortunate and random event happens I right click on the Media100 App icon in my dock and select the project and program to “SAVE” before I force quit out. At least I don’t have to redo the title or comp again.

Maybe graffiti over Red will solve the issue?? I’m not sure it’s available or would work but I miss that solid app for simple titles like”slates” or disclaimers.

To make a long and exhausting story short and not go over the allowed character count for this message-
I went as far as I could along with a dozen of the finest techs and mac savvy-types from around the globe at apple, Boris and beyond who had it their personal mission to solve, only to agree later to fdisk it when they ran out of options…

It turned out to be the first place you look and thought I’d covered but the issue ws not in Media 100- or QT rather an invisible corrupt pref in BORIS RED that would not uninstall or be deleted easily that was linked linked to Media100 suite and an old Futura Bold font! Which also give me intermittent freezing issues when hitting the check mark to return back to the Media100 timeline.

So I don’t know how or what had happened but for now the problem is gone. Media Suite 2.1 loads and I’m creating titles again without with freezes. And Futura bold no where to be found on my drive or any of other of my 5 macs. I wonder if this message will put more Futura’s in the trash? futura STD seems to be ok for those who are wondering.

Thanks for responding so quickly as always. Yes, I tried reinstalling several times. Each removing more and more files including invisible ones. I did the same with RED5 and other 3rd party plugs as well as uninstalled everything after the crash occurred but QTpro, the pro codecs apps and iTunes

It’s really got to be there. Seems every issue stems from QT or FONTS in Media100.
My next step is try installing QTpro 7.6.6 again although I cant recall the safest way to do this. I used a 3rd party App a few years back… or since QTX is the system app can I just delete Pro? I found nothing useful on the Apple site.
The only puzzling issue is it only effects Media100 (which explains my nearly half-dozen un-reinstall attempts)

FCPX works fine along with all the Adobe products.

I tried EVERYTHING. I can’t wait because my dialog box never leaves the screen- it blinks 2 times then locks up. I’m able to use the dock to Media 1con jump around and save as much as possible but need to ultimately Force Quit.

In any case, I talked with Boris Techs about this. They have had a few issues. I’m going back to RED 4.3 in Suite 2.1 and see if the same happens.

I’ll post any findings.

My first thought is maybe something as simple as a FONT issue. I put in a request to Media100 on this. Do you know of a way to by-pass RED with within Media100 somehow to use Graffiti or something to by-pass this? It may be MEDIA100 and not Boris Red that’s the issue. But you really can’t even check that since you can’t use APPLY. You can’t even save the file text trying to avoid APPLY since you need to ultimately press APPLY to return to media and doing a slate in 1 app, saving, opening back up in another is silly.

Media100 should really revise this akward exchange between the two programs anyway. Heck it’s the same company you thing they could just build in a simple title app that doesnt need to open another app.

Just my 2 cents. If there is such a thing and I’m missing it someone please let me know.

Thanks for the guidance on this FLOH. After trying Compressor, QTpro, AJA, AE… The best conversion from 108Oi HD to SD 4:3 720 is to copy the project from the 1080i timeline and paste it directly into a 525i NTSC program. I did have to change the config to ntsc 601 or else the COLOR was too saturated. It will render it quickly and it looks great!

Athough the codec /config setup is 1080i60 it’s still in 29.97 format. (got me on that one)

I just need to crop it 4:3. I set up the Grx in AE for SD safe knowing I needed both HD and SD versions.
I’ve never tried the pan-scan thing in media100. Maybe I’ll try that. As well as in AE.

Have you found 2.0.2 to be more stable? And if you have an AJA card did you go to 9.03?

I tried the new AJA 903 with 2.01 and I had issues so i wen t back to 8xx
and stayed in 10.6.7.

I’m hoping I can resolve the NO SYNC in AE5x! I out analog component and need the black burst but AE doesn’t detect it. SO I use AJA’s setings which don’t match my Media settings exactly. Oh and theres the annoying pref. setup every time I open it from Media- to- AJA then I get a preview.
