I understand that there was substantial debate about the direction of Final Cut Pro in 2009 and early 2010 and once Steve Jobs made the decision to go where the puck was going to be (FCPX), a number of disaffected video engineers were laid off in Austin and LA. So, that may help with the framing of the time. And, I agree, they must have used some of the architecture from iMovie ’08 so as not to reinvent the wheel.

  • Actually, Lance, I feel some resentment at the label of “troll;” even if offered in jest. Some of us have valid concerns.

I have owned every version of PS, AI, AE (even the CoSA version) since they were introduced and was even an Adobe beta tester. In addition, I demonstrated one of the first versions of Premiere to the St. Louis Film and Video Society.

However, I will not buy into the subscription model. I used CC last year but, with the introduction of the software rental model, have cancelled it. I will stick with my perpetual license of CS6 and work to find alternative tools.

    Joe:

There are a number of reasons that this can happen. Usually, it is easily resolved by techniques such as those described above.

Recently, I had the problem and finally gave up. Then, I found Trash It at the following URL:

    https://www.nonamescriptware.com/

It’s free. However, after using it I had no problem making a donation to the creator.

  • Hey Joey:

I’m glad that you are interested. The comments about this training have been so positive from members that I think that you will enjoy it.

Download blender 2.49b for your particular operating system from the blender.org site at: https://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/ Note that the Blender team is currently working on version 2.5–a powerful upgrade with a more intuitive interface. However, 2.5 is still in the alpha stage of development.

The tutorials are in the COW tutorial section. If you go to the COW home page, the menu bar lists “Forums, Tutorials, Magazine, Training, Video Reels,” etc. Just click on the tutorials button. The tutorials are named: “Blender Survival Guide” Parts 1-9. They currently use blender 2.49b; however, Paolo is already offering hints about interface changes in 2.5.

Start with the first tutorial from Paolo and then move on at your own pace.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

See, the Digital Juice ad was a pre-announcement.

It is now available as a sidegrade for existing owners for $199.

    Nope.

I am looking at the inside back cover as I type. The full page ad on page 43 says: “Announcing ProAnimator for Final Cut Pro and Motion.” Highlights of this ingenious new software . . .

You can download the pdf of the May issue of the Digital Juice magazine from their website to confirm.

The inside back page of the May 2008 issue of the Digital Juice magazine/catalog has a full-page ad for Pro Animator with the following:

“Announcing Pro Animator for Final Cut Pro and Motion.”

“Now you can do real-time 3-D titles and logos right inside of Final Cut and Motion!”

Compatibility requirements: “Final Cut Pro 6 and Motion 3 or higher.”

However, the installation instructions for 4.5.0 say nothing about the feature and installation into the Final Cut Studio or Pro Apps Plug-in folders do not deliver this feature.

    Heard that both are good.

Purchased 8 GB recently from OWC. Had intermittent errors, probably due to bad RAM, after 4 months; they replaced the RAM immediately and without hassle.
