Since the latest firware update, the 5D is capable of recording 48 kHz sound, which is a broadcast standard.

However, I record separately on a Zoom H4N as I don’t trust the audio recorder inside the 5D. But I believe others have had good experiences with a Beachtek directly connected to the 5D…

I find it comforting to know that you’re recording double system, although it also requires you to adhere to a strict recording procedure (check sound -> check camera -> action -> check sound again).

Also, if you ZIP/RAR/SIT your uncompressed file before sending it off, you may get quite impressive results.

Transparency means you choose no color for your comp. Just leave at black and use solids instead if you need colors. But if you want to superimpose your composition inside your NLE, you need to have the background black…

500MB for a 60 second clip is not unreasonable for a file that contains 3 color channels + 1 alpha channel. Since it’s uncompressed it will render/playback very fast.

Consider exporting the frames as a JPEG or PNG sequence and then import these into Acrobat, Photoshop or some other application…

This is definitely advanced AE work that will at least include a couple of imported 3D elements. Look for some tutorials on VideoCoPilot.net – I’m sure they will get you in the right direction…

Get things in writing before starting your production is sound advice.

However, we should not forget that doing business is both contact AND contract. If you focus too much on the legalese you tend to loose sight of what it was you were trying to achieve together.

Although a handshake is a perfectly acceptable way to do business, I always confirm things in writing and ask them to agree on this. That way, at least you have some form of legal proof. Without it, you have nothing.

This not only applies to the terms of your job, but also to the changes that need to be made to your edit, etc.
