submerging a camera underwater
Hi,
was wondering whether anyone could help me on something I am attempting for a short animation in after effects…whether or not i can explain what i want to do is another matter.
I have built two scenes in after effects (a swamp on top and an underwater scene on the bottom. I am following a really good andrew kramer tutorial from video copilot as to how to mover the camera down from one scene to another (like this but the bottom layer being water instead of basement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dv5Akg0IXY). What i am having difficulty with is the water, I want the water’s surface to have a subtle movement and the camera to see the small ripples and waves as the lens passes thru the water (with this sort of look as you go thru https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3381/3231381180_2af1a3173a_z.jpg )
does that make any sense? can anyone help?

Red Giant’s Psunami is probably a good solution: https://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/psunami/
It would probably mean that you’ll have to redo the bottom part of your composition with this plugin, but animating water probably is a lot more complex.

I believe the plugin allows you to switch off the sky/sun layers and replace those with your own…
