  • NIce match between all three cameras. Not much color saturation and maybe that is what they wanted. I’ve experienced that with the BMCC as well and usually have to bring out the color during grade.

If you try to do this yourself you will probably need some captioning software that interfaces well with Premiere Pro. For MAC most folks use MacCaption from CPC. But this software is over $1K and that may not be cost-justified for one project since you can get this done at a service bureau relatively inexpensively. And you can usually avoid some costs if you have a transcript done for your captioning bureau. I use https://www.productiontranscripts.com. For captioning I use the National Captioning Institute: https://www.ncicap.org/services/captioning/

Once you have the captions embedded in your video, Premiere Pro will preserve the captions provided you follow the instructions for preserving the Caption Information while importing found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/closed-captioning.html

Seems pretty involved but it should work. Again…I would not attempt this myself since service bureaus offer this at an affordable price.

Try Perihelion design. Also strap the cable to the top of the Hyperdeck and secure it with Gorilla tape (Not GAFFER TAPE). That way it will take the stress off the connector. I’ve expeienced the same thing with those pesky connectors.

Cheapest way…Have the captioning done then use a dub house.

This sounds pretty stupid but you might want to check to be absolutely sure that your 1/4″ TRS inputs are pushed in all the way. When we initially tried this we had the same problem only to discover that we needed to be more agressive about plugging in those cables.

Bot other people have reported the same problem. We only know that the audio is pretty good and we have had no problems getting usable audio. We generally record double system sound as a backup though. Eliminates the nervousness.

Why do you feel EXFAT is best? First time I have heard that. Is that for compatibiity between different operating systems?

Thanks for the admonition. You are right. Everyone needs grace (unmerited favor). And nothing technical is perfect. So I should learn to temper my expectations. I love the BMCC and the more I use it the more impressed I am with the performance of the camera. I was really just kidding with my comments – although I did actually have lunch with my attorney that day. To forgive is divine. I hope to receive forgiveness from everyone for my coarse comment. Well stated. And noted.

I did not EMPTY THE TRASH. So that is pretty interesting. We were recording a bunch of lengthy interviews. After 46 minutes the camera screen said SSD FULL. I thought I had 4 hours of recording time available on a 480 GB drive. I had no warning either. So that is a “gotcha” that all BMCC users should be aware of. Thanks for the explanation. Onward!
