I was in a similar position: a multimedia specialist and my wife was pregnant. I took off 2 weeks, using vacation because I was worried about what the company would think. My wife got 6 weeks unpaid leave. I took 2 more weeks at Christmas. Then when my vacation reset, I took 2 weeks in April. When I got back from vacation, they laid me off. I got 6 months severance and COBRA payments, while I was a stay at home dad (twin daughters). Now I teach and freelance. Knowing what I know now, and having experienced what I experienced, I would definitely take the entire 13 weeks of paid family leave, and if my boss and company didn’t like it, then I might try to find other work during those 13 weeks.

Sounds to me (and what do I know) like the agency didn’t have approval from the client to spend money on your fees, but they do have approval for a temp-agency — probably the approved temp-agency the client already uses, so the social media agency can put your fees on that line item on the really big invoice they will be submitting (end of quarter?).
And you have no leverage because you delivered the work.
I say “take the money and run; live and learn…die and forget it all.”

And it will be a de facto beta testing period. I think it was DRW who posted (months ago) on how to properly upgrade software. I can’t find the link. It’s more important than ever to follow his model with app store. Folks working in x.0.5 ought to keep a working partition if not full on drive and or system of that system and run them simultaneously, so as bugs are discovered, you can still go back to x05.

Although Mark called it a “zoom in or dolly,” these can be achieved in the editing program.
Running time is important too. In my experience, 10 minutes seems to be as long as people can take without some kind of dramatic intrusion or dynamic naturally-gifted speaker making eye contact — for the same evolutionary biology explanation Mark unpins.
