[Walter Soyka] “Markers in Premiere/Prelude can be named and can extend for arbitrary lengths of time.”

CS6’s implementation is not useful at all. Prelude > Premiere is very useful but it is limited once it gets back into Premiere. The extended markers need to show up as subclips. And I couldn’t even find the way to get the markers to show up in Premiere unless I opened the clip in the source window.

Hopefully I simply did something wrong and someone can help me with my workflow. Thanks!

  • Do not use FCPX for the first time for a quick turn. It is different enough to cause some delays. The learning curve is real — learning to “unthink” how it used to work takes some getting used to. You will recognize Premiere much quicker. Save the learning curve of X for something less time sensitive.

    my 2 cents

    Did you have student loans?

I add: pay back those student loans as fast as possible. Don’t buy new gear. Don’t get a graduate degree. Don’t spend money a big wedding. Or a house. Or new gear. Don’t buy new gear. Pay off the student loans. Then quit the current steady job.

Does the bitrate at all correspond to the “Key frame every” setting? If you put a key frame, just to make it easy, every second, and then change that to every 1/2 second (you’ll have to calculate the frames first,) does the bitrate get too large halfway between those key frames?

    Thanks!

    [Kit Reiner] “OSX 10.9.4.”

I have had problems too. A restart fixes it. What audio card are you using? And are Audio Hardware settings in Premiere set to that hardware?

Did you choose the limit bit rate setting?

  • The fancy gadget my Network Engineer friend operates is $10k/Gig, and that’s the discounted research university pricing. Private party pricing my friend says is 10 times that per gig. It’s an array with SSD at the top, 7200RPM below that, 5400 RPM below that and a fancy robotic LTO library. THe software figures out which data is used most frequently and keeps it at the top.

[Todd Terry] “nothing would ever be done about it either”

Why is that? Do candidates just take their lumps and move on? Or maybe I’m so low on the totem poll no one sees me. They aim their ire at campaign managers etc — not the video schlep.

    Thanks!
