Some more details: I cut the greenscreen footage into the sequence (which is not called a sequence, btw), figuring I could then set a range to export the greenscreen footage to AE. Alas, i could not get the footage into AE. So I said, “OK. I will try to use X’s keyer.”
Hey! It worked beautifully.
The problem Mr. Owens might have is getting a range of his footage out of X. It’s easy to get the whole thing out, just not a range.
Hope that clarifies.
If anyone is paying attention, that’s 2 issues I’ve sent to Apple:
1. We need to color code roles;
2. We need to export a range.I’m hopeful on 1. but I don’t think 2. will happen.

I used the keyer in 10.0.2 and it worked perfectly. I was amazed at how easy it was actually with an AVCHD codec. The greenscreen was lit perfectly also. Then I used some background plates also and found the cropping tools to be actual tools. Normally I would do that work in After Effects, but I decided to try X, and was pleasantly surprised.
More importantly, my client loved it!
But I found exporting (now called “share”) to be very poor because there is no way to select a range and export it; I mean “share” it. The workarounds have been discussed in the FCPX Techniques forum.

I’ve seen this come up a few times now. I’m not sure why folks love the viewer and canvas idea so much, but I think it had to do with ganging and matching between shots. If that’s the beef, here, you can do that in the precision editor.

If on the other hand, you have a different beef, then it can “usually” do what you want it to do, it just has a totally different name. I put usually in quotes not as sarcasm but to point to the fact that some features are missing, especially with regard to export. Dang! I mean “sharing.” It’s now called “sharing” not export.

These are tough discussions to have because the nomenclature has changed. For example, I’m thinking, you can do compound clips that are not the primary. Also you can stack secondaries on top of the primaries. I had to spend a lot of time reading the manual. Fortunately, I like to read.
What do you mean match frame thing? Do you mean the precision editor?
I found cutting a narrative easier than 7, especially with regard to Js and Ls.
Audio has two aspects: (1) the “tracklessness” which I wrote about below; and (2) Effects, the effects blow away 7.

Unless…he has a lot of capital for a gigantic scale. For example, remax or century 21. These are giant real estate sales corporations in the US. In that case, I believe you’d want to buy equipment and hire employees and fly them around the country to shoot.
I participated on an extremely small scale in a similar business model but it was for a cook book. (I brought them lunch 🙂 The shooters gained massive efficiency having done the same basic task for 3 months. Hiring a pile of locals every time is a bit wasteful from an efficiency point of view.
