You’re asking the processor to do a lot of work it can’t do. The problem is the mixed media.
When X starts a project, then it selects the settings of the first footage you import.
Your footage is of two kinds:
The GoPro is 1080p with a particular frame rate that you haven’t mentioned.
The Nex5 is 1080i with a frame rate you haven’t mentioned. I just looked it up on line your could be different. You’ll have to check.
When you export/share, X will create one file that has transcoded all of the media to a single specification, which was set when you started your project. Transcoding footage especially frame rate is very processor heavy.
The fixit technique is apparently old school is linked above. Use the app called Compressor to transcode all of you media BEFORE you start your project. All of your media should be the same exact specs. Then open X and import the newly transcoded footage.

Exactly. And why apple does what apple does befuddles common sense.
Anyway, we also need a way to export keywords into an index file. For example, one of my clients for whom I make dance how-tos and performance DVDs has a quite a few FW800 drives. If I’m looking for a particular piece of footage, I want X to tell me its own Drive_A then I can plug it in and get the footage. This text based export index file (that doesn’t exist) needs to also include other data.

There’s no straw man there, which means he builds the contradictory point of view in order to knock it down. Instead, we get his subjective experience. This is not imply the existence of an entity named “objective experience.” (See also existential fallacy.)
Are you unconvinced by his inability to establish ethos? Perhaps.
He is also a fine contributor to the FCPX techniques forum and has obviously been using the software in an advanced way. His techniques actually work, and if he says FCPX makes him feel like it did when he learned Illustrated, then I believe him. In no way does he imply that you or I must also feel like he felt and feels.
While I’m on the topic, it’s really difficult for anyone who hasn’t actually worked (not toyed with, worked) in X to say anything convincing about it or critique it because it is impossible to establish ethos. Jim’s well documented issues are a fine example…as are mine. The absurdist line of reasoning (ergo, business decisions of folks who had to buy something) so far has been humorous and twinged with lament; as if Waiting for Godot is now Waiting for Apple.
To be sure: I really don’t care what editing system, power saw, hammer anyone uses.
I would however love to read the license agreements between apple and the developers who collaborated (if you will) to deliver FCP Legacy.

Drama and storytelling. Everything you do with fancy technology is about one thing: the story. There are two types of drama, the literature kind like you find in the English department and the theatre kind like you find in acting classes. Once you are actually enrolled in the University, start immediately looking for internships. An internship is a learning experience. It means you should be able to learn something and not just be a “go-fer” and a coffee maker.
Networking skills are very important.
