go into the pre comp and make sure all the layers are 3d….other than that i cant really tell what is going on

you just add a boxed blurred shadow under the boat…thats it…

you can even invert the geometry on the 2nd element layer so that we see the inside geometry of the object rather than the outside…You invert it inside the element 3d scene setup

you create 2 copies of element after you have your scene set up. then. on the top copy you go to camera settings in the element 3d tab and go to far and near cut off. adjust them so that you get only a slice of your 3d text in the middle. then make it a different texture lower the opacity and set blending mode to add..now you move your camera around and see that it makes a pretty good cross section

there is an script called Collage. i think its free..it might help but its layout is random

you could also have them all lead to a null on the main composition..the old way of doing things

I dont think the orientation and the rotation are different…i wish they were…..i have tried many times to find a different way to rotate like how you are describing..the only way is with 2 different nulls and for that we might as well go back in time
