They seem to have cheap rates. I don’t know about their quality, I ran across them putting together a low budget (film) music video budget–it hasn’t happened yet so I don’t know their work. They’ve been doing it a long time. When I was in LA I used FotoKem all the time. A great lab.

    Hello Noah,

I did research the tread in this forum. I guess I’m not that good at it, I didn’t find that much information. It’s hard for me to believe (I guess I’m naive) that people could advertise a product for a certian price and then not deliever it. What’s with that? But thanks for the heads up.

    Cheers,

16 frames a foot is for 35mm film. (24fps x 60 sec. = 1440 frames divided by 90 feet per minute = 16 frames per foot) 40 frames to the foot is 16mm. (24 fps x 60 sec. = 1440 divided by 36 feet per minute = 40 frames per foot) I don’t know what 20 frames a foot is. (Could be 16mm at 12 frames per second?)

    Hello Bob.

I think you mean ‘dolly’ down the table. In a ‘trucking’, shot both the subject and the camera move,(truck along with the action) in a ‘dolly’ shot the subject stays still and the camera moves. (dolly in or out on the subject)

I’ve been a cameraman since getting out of the Air Force motion picture camera school in 1962. And yes I use a lot of zooms. I do a lot of 16mm production for television, a lot of it in a ‘documentary’ style. During an interview I always have my hand on the Micro Force. A very slow and suttle move in at the right moment can really bring out the emotion in the scene. It’s risky at times because one doesn’t want to be caught in the ‘middle’ of a zoom , making the editor’s life hell, but I found it’s worth it to take the chance and 95 per cent of the prodcuers/directors I work with agree. Some will say ‘never’. Others let me try to ‘feel’ the situation and use my experience and talent to capture that moment that they are after.

    Cheers,

Thanks all for the help. Finally I uninstalled 4.1 and re-installed 4.0 (from the cds–which was an upgrade from Express) then used the Apple upgrade to 4.5. Worked fine. Must have been something to do with the 4.1 upgrade. The 4.5 upgrade didn’t like it at all.
