I just received the cable an hour ago, but because of the known delay I had to capture days ago somewhere else and I have to finish that edition, so after I finish it I will try the cable, but It won’t be today

but we all think it won’t work because of the comm. protocols

Thank you Bouke, but the problem is that I need to capture video from mini dv tape the only port out of the camera is mini IEEE1394

and I was wondering if FCP accepts and recognizes de camera if I use a simple cable converter from mini IEEE1394 TO USB2 like this one

    Thank you

January 5, 2011 at 2:09 am in reply to: is EXPRESS CARD PORT SUPPORTED ?

So, does any expresscard 34 (mac or pc) are accepted by OS X ??
or do they need to be bought specially for macs, because I was searching for an expresscard 34 with IEEE1384 ports, but “all” they only mention having drivers for windows, none of them (10 models) say anything about mac-OS X supported, I’m a total ignorant on that

    any clue ??

    Thanks everyone

Very good explained Rafael, everything makes sense, thanks

I already ordered this cheap cable converter,I ordered in the meanwhile I asked you guys if it could work or not
    https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180563635904&ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT

But I guess there is always a risk to damage the notebook USB port or even worst the IEEE1394 port of the video camera

and I guess the mini USB port of the video camera is only for video clips and pics already digitized, not for video tape transfers to the notebook, the other users are telling that

    Thank you Rafael

Good point, I forgot to mention that I need to capture video from tape only, and the port IEEE1364 itself is totally broken

I was curious if FCP allows video capture from tape using a cable converter IEEE1364 to USB
