Sorry but Freeform is not included in CS6 or CC. They stopped bundling it in CS6. So purchase is the only option apparently.

These are all really good suggestions. But I was hoping for a fix with Particular since several comps have already been setup already. They are basically done. I was hoping to just find some kind of fix with particular to adjust the offset like in the follow the leader example. BTW I did start the project with the follow the leader expression and it seemed like it would work but once I had to do it with over 40 images it slowed down to a crawl. It was very tedious to work with. Now I did mess with freeform for the first time today and I gotta say that might have been the route to go. Very straight forward. Though I feel if I can figure this out there are some advantages to the look and feel of doing it with particles. I’ll take a look at Zaxwerks. But in the meantime if anyone can figure out, maybe with an expression which is not my forte, how to change the offset with particular, that would rock.

I think the major issue at this point is that I can’t figure out how to control the spaces between the photos and also get them the right size. If I lower the number of particles a second then there’s not enough particles in the ribbon. If I put say 30 particles a second then all of them stack on top of each other only showing a small part of the image. Same thing happens if I increase the size. They again start to stack.

YES!!! This is great. Exactly what I was looking for using particular. This is why I love the creativecow community. Although you might need to help me just a little further. I put a series of about 30 images one frame each in the Photo precomp that you provided then sequenced them. That worked now I’m just having problems tweaking things. Is there a way to change the space between the images in the Particular opt 2 version. I love the look of opt1 but i’m having a real odd anomaly occur where portions of the ribbon blink on and off. Any idea what might cause this?

Thanks. This is definitely an interesting option. This method to creating multicam sequences has less glitches then creating a multicam source sequence which for some reason does very strange things with my audio when I create a new sequence from it. I’ve gone a little further with your idea to get what I needed. After nesting the 3 video clips but leaving the 4 audio tracks untouched and activating multiclip on the vid tracks I create a new sequence and import the newly created sequence (containing the multiclip) in to it making sure that “insert and overwrite as individual clips” is turned on. This allows me to work from the source monitor when pulling client selects and still maintains a multicam video track for on the fly switching. It is an extra step to setup but once done it makes it much easier to work with multiple audio tracks from the source on a continuous basis keeping everything intact.

I checked out the omni snake plugin but there’s distortion and it’s not quite the look i’m going for. The Follow the leader option is the closest one so far.
If I wanted to use particular what would be the proper settings so that the images would follow the emitter right now I’ve only found tuts on how to leave a trail but that trail doesn’t keep up with the emitter. Thanks.

I’m looking for a way to select a clip in the timeline and open it in the source monitor all from the keyboard, I don’t mean match frame. Right now I have to double click with my mouse to get the clip to open in the source monitor and still have it be connected to the clip on the timeline. Is there a way to do it with shortcuts in PP_CC?
The workflow in FCP was: x (marks the clip), opt-A (selects the clip), Enter (opens in the viewer or in this case source monitor).

The thing is you can do that in FCP. All you have to do is select the clips in the timeline, right click and select make independent. At that point it’s no longer linked and you can rename or even relink to different media without effecting the original clip in the bin.
Maybe at some point Adobe will add the option for how clips link with each over. It’s hard to imagine that it would take a ground up rewrite approach to the software. But I know nothing about programming.
