  • Problems with audio when creating Multicam Sequence?

Posted by Reuben Fink on September 27, 2013 at 8:15 pm

    Here’s my steps:

I have three video clips and 2 separate audio files that all have the same in point. I create a multicam source sequence using Audio Channel Preset: Mono. I open that sequence in a timeline and make some adjustments like remove dead audio tracks that existed on the original video files. So now I have 3 vid tracks and 4 audio tracks lined up. Here’s where I’m having a problem. I right click the source sequence and choose new sequence from clip. When the sequence is created I now only have 2 audio tracks and everything is panned left channel even though the mixer is showing centered. This seems odd since tuts I’ve watched don’t behave in this manner. How can I have it so that I still get a multicam clip but also retain all my audio channels from the source sequence?

    Thanks.

    ps. working in PP CC.

Option select just the video tracks and then right click and nest them. This will give you nested video but leave all your audio alone. Right click on the nested video track and enable multicam and start cutting.

Thanks. This is definitely an interesting option. This method to creating multicam sequences has less glitches then creating a multicam source sequence which for some reason does very strange things with my audio when I create a new sequence from it. I’ve gone a little further with your idea to get what I needed. After nesting the 3 video clips but leaving the 4 audio tracks untouched and activating multiclip on the vid tracks I create a new sequence and import the newly created sequence (containing the multiclip) in to it making sure that “insert and overwrite as individual clips” is turned on. This allows me to work from the source monitor when pulling client selects and still maintains a multicam video track for on the fly switching. It is an extra step to setup but once done it makes it much easier to work with multiple audio tracks from the source on a continuous basis keeping everything intact.
