Thanks for your response, I appreciate it.

You are correct… full-HD resolution comes with a full-HD pricetag!

But if I’m using it for focusing, how much resolution do I need?
Would the Marshall V-R70P-HDA be sufficient @ 800×480 pixels? I realize that this is very low, but that it is higher than most others in the price range (it’s $1600 from Marshall’s site).

From what I understand, it uses a pulldown (2:3 I believe) to convert the 24P to 60i while it’s shooting.

Oh, of course. I just wasn’t sure as to how I could make the stamp into three seperate layers, each showing a different shade of gray.
