Question from propective buyer
I’m looking into purchasing a camera soon. I’m debating between the DVX100b, for its cost-effectiveness, and the HVX200, for its features and its survivability in the emerging HD format.
One thing I noticed from the sample footage on RedRock Micro’s website is that, in comparison to the HVX footage, the DVX footage seems, I guess, foggy. Is the HVX footage HD footage, or does the HVX just do a better job with SD video?
Another question I have is this: would it be possible to record HD video directly to an external hard drive, without using a P2 card? If so, can I use any hard drive, or does it have to be designed for digital video cameras? Can it be USB, or does it have to be firewire?
I’m asking because I work with an extremely small production company (5 members!) that has very limited resources. In addition, its editing suite is not wholly able to handle full HD video, as its monitors are unable to handle the resolution. But if the HVX can produce clearer SD video, it would be favorable.
Thanks!
