An HD monitor for viewing and color correcting. PVM-14L5 or PVM-20L5 are popular crt monitors around here but they are discontinued so you have to find used ones. The lcd types are getting affordable so a search on these threads will give you lots of insight.
Bob mentioned AJA and Black Magic input cards/devices which you also need to look at.
Archiving completed projects is another thing. DLT drives are affordable solutions but depending on your acquisition equipment an HD deck may make sense also.

If you don’t see it on the tape and it doesn’t show up when projecting the timeline on a video projector it sounds like a ground loop type of issue that is only effecting your cinema display. Red and green are quite opposite and are represented by different electronic values and perhaps this type scene is susceptible to weak sync or subcarrier signals in your existing power supply or wiring system.
Try writing that section to tape and see if it plays ok. It could be just effecting your cinema display.
You could also try legalizing your colors or tweeking their levels in color to see if that helps.

Why it does it I don’t know but it does it. “I don’t own the HPX500 but is this what happens on AWB or does it happen even if you set white balance? For the 5600K you could set a preset using a color meter.

HDV cameras shoot HDV (high Def) format to mini dv tape. Just like a dvd is compressed video (mpeg2) HDV is compressed HD video in the same way SD video is compressed to fit on a dvd.
When he says he wants tape he wants HDV (mpeg2 High def) on the tape NOT SD mini dv. This is the Hi def his camera and all the sony and canon cameras record. The only way you can write HD to mini dv tape is by compressing it with mpeg2 compression first which is what all those other cameras do.
Your HVX200 uses a frame by frame compression which is superior to GOP compression. The only way you can give him what he wants is:
A- rent an HDV camera for the shoot and a JVC would be best.
or
B- shoot 720P on your hvx200 P2 and record your footage onto an HDV deck or camera afterwards and it should be a JVC deck to match the short GOP structure that JVC uses for their HDV format. This should be easy to find but somewhat sad to have to do.“everything is broken” ……Bob Dylan

Hi Nate, thought you might be interested to see this. 1/2 way into this movie this sweet redhead is showing a PS technic adapter on the HPX500. Anything that has a B4 mount as opposed to a clamp on to the existing lens would be a benefit. (click on the P2 HD Camcorder link on the left)

Hi Chris, I think I emailed you a link to that one after seeing on one of your posts you were looking for one. I also had a BVM-20E1U and the funny thing is I could swear I saw the BKM-42 as an option for it to take HD on the Sony web site. After Sony introduced the BVM-D series that info disappeared from the BVM-20E options. It could be my imagination but I always wanted to try one of those cards in my BVM-20E1U just to find out. Sony changes their technology too fast! Their BVM HD lineup has gone from BVM-D; BVM-E to BVM-A in about 5 years. Sadly, all the input cards are not compatible in these lines.
