I figured it out, I was capturing across a network to a NTFS drive that must have been it. I just will have to capture to a Mac drive then copy it to my server.

    Thanks again

    Tom,
I have another question, I do weddings and I like to capture all my footage at once. In my old windows system I could start it capturing and walk away it would automaticly break up my clips(which we discussed) it would also make big clips if neccesary I just ried capturing a wedding in FCP and it kept stopping at 2 gigs, the only way I could get around this was to change the cut off amount but then I needed to guess on how much space it would use up. Is there a setting im missing?

    Shane,
I kinda found a workaround, I bring in all the clips at once then select them all and uncheck the drop down.

    Thanks

I got home and tried clicking the “un link” button and that only seperates the audio from the video. I need to seperate the audio track 1 from audio track 2 globaly. Right now I can uncheck the “stereo pair” drop down but i have to do this on every clip.

I think Premiere Pro does that too, I get a warning that it will have to “Make up frames”but I looked and looked and I cant see any artifacts or glitches.

    Shane,
Thanks for the response! First of all so you know I do weddings so show length is not an issue for me. I dont want to make seem like im trying to make FCP into Edius but there were some things it did that sped up my work flow and im trying to see if I can do the same in FCP. I think you got what I was looking for, In Edius I can drop 2 clips next to each other then drop in a dissolve and Edius would automaticly ripple back a second to add the handles. This made it great for doing alot of redundant in camera editied clips. tweaking every shot would be tedious for the kinda work I do but if thats the way it is so be it. To be honest im trying to make FCP work because I love the rest of the package so much (livetype,DVDSP 4, motion) im hoping to learn to love FCP too.

    Thanks Again.
