The shadows are painted on to my eye. The most forward on the left side is too long and too harsh a shadow.

That’s a single greenscreen shot or a single frame with the talent extracted in photoshop. Sized and horizontally flipped to make the rest. Those are not multiple takes.

[grempe] “Well, I really wish I knew what else to do…I have diabled or uninstalled everything that could be running in the background. The only thing that I can think of is that its my processor.”

There is very little processing going on in capturing. It’s the pipeline to your hard-drive (or the hard-drive itself) that seems to be the problem. The continuous stream of data is being interrupted somewhere.

OK – all those tape-like drops-outs are actually dropped frames in the GOP. What you have to figure out, is where is the bottle-neck in the way of your hard-drive?

One typical thing is the free version of Diskeeper. Disable it during capture.

I’ve always had trouble with Nero running in the background – so disable that.

This ain’t a Vegas problem, per se.

Looks like bad tape to me – or dirty heads.

A good key is about lighting – including back lighting the talent, which, if you don’t do, will leave a greenish edge on your talent – a real bugger to get rid of…

    Back-light your talent!

[Tartiartic] “A lee or Rosco number would be incredibly fantastic.”

Assuming T8 Cool White (The most popular T8 lamp:

Rosco 3202 to balance to daylight
Rosco 3304 to balance to Cool White lamps overhead.

You will need both over the Tota’s

[jeditdv] “10 Gig seems extreme for the pagefile. I haven’t had issues letting Windows handle it. It shouldn’t be on the same drive as your video files anyway.”

I also use the pagefile partition for my downloads and temp files.

My disk is set up like this:

    C: windows and programs 100g
    F: pagefile 20g
G: all content except video 115g

    250g drive total

    I have 8 drives total

[dpetto] “How is this done? Is it something that I can do fairly easily with some instruction?”

It’s easily done – but I’m not sure you can add a partition with windows already running. I’ve always done it before installing windows.

I also create a third partition called ‘My Documents’ and use that like a big folder.

If you aren’t running ‘Diskeeper’ – you should. It’s an amazingly effective program to keep all your drives frag-free. Well worth the price of 50 bucks.
