All of the manufactures usually have cameras set up and shooting. Also you will usually get a peek into a new product they may have shipping soon.
B & H is a great source but NAB will give you hands on with the reps 🙂

The pulldown does make sense but not sure that’s the only contributing factor. For us 24 material plays very smooth (forward and reverse) and we do have material with pulldown that also plays well.hummmm
We simply could not reverse the image and expect smooth playback, code was implemented to do this and if the code is poorly implemented to play offspeed forward then reverse will be even worse. I would still have to say this is a code issue, not a hardware issue. We all know there is good and bad code just like there is good and bad hardware, thank god for workarounds…..
Keep pushing to get the issues resolved 🙂 I know if we can get it done using this hardware, others must also.

I don’t believe this is a hardware issue, as we are using the AJA boards and get great speed adjustment playback in forward and reverse(no jitter). The software is determining how the frames are being thrown to the hardware so in reverse the software has to interpet various items to do this smoothly. The point is, it is entirely possible, hardware wise. *This is a custom software application.
I would suggest calling AJA support to see if they can lend a hand, their hardware is pretty amazing.

We do not see this issue with our App using the Kona3. Everything from Capture and playout to print to tape and inserts are always dead on. I would suggest contacting the AJA team for their support.

Based on some feedback a clarification needs to be made.
RaveHD is a Linux based product using commodity hardware, it’s own I/O driver, RS422 library, Image library and a software application written entirely from the ground up. Because of these factors we are able to push both hardware and software beyond what other application may or may not do.
SpectSoft is a privately held company that specializes in solutions for the higher-end, multi-user studio and specifically addresses issues for the film to video, video to film workflows.
I hope that answers some of the questions that have come up.

Like Kathleen responded, depends on your interests. The week starts on Friday and is pretty much non-stop with something night and day.
The Cow breakfast is a good place to meet fellow grazers and the Promax event is always good, although arrive early or you will be without a seat or food. Most companies will usually have something special but are almost always VIP or invite only events so the key is, who do you know……
This year we are also getting into the game with our appointment demos in our Suite at the Hilton where we will be serving drinks and food to our guests. These will start on Saturday and go night and day until Friday. We should be all partied out by then………….
So, get your list out of who you must see and check out where you can see them and like Kathleen says, check their website for detailed information.
Oh yeah, wear comfortable shoes!

I’m happy for Medea and the crew as they have always been strong supporters of us on the Linux side. In fact we are finally putting in a RaveHD/Medea Fiber combo in at USC that has been in the works for some time. I hope that Medea products continue to grow and expand and would only hope they continue to offer other platforms the same options that Avid will see.
Medea has always been a company with strong development and even stronger support, let’s hope it continues…..
