Haven’t seen this issue on our side*. Proper Ref and ref settings play a huge role in getting this all right and can cause a variety of issues, something i’m sure you already know.

I would just like to add that many major facilities worldwide are using our SATA DDR solutions and would differ that SATA doesn’t work for 10bit RGB and below and these guys are pounding the hell out of the systems. The proper hardware in the right hands will yield excellent results.
We just introduced an 8 drive rig that handles up to 4:4:4 and yes, it’s SATA.
You can get Crappy controllers and drives and some companies may choose to go on the cheap side for what they use but please remember even SATA can be expensive and you do get what you pay for.

Actual both server and workstation boards work for uncompressed HD. There really isn’t much going on with the procs, given your using the right I/O card for the job 🙂
We have used a mixture of both and on both Intel and AMD over the years.

Agreed. You gain nothing but a larger file.
We do this all the time for testing performance but other than that it’s pointless.

Just food for thought.
Check the specs between DVI and SDI, not sure if this matters in your workflow but may be the fuel you need.

We just supplied a RaveHD unit to Barco for their yearly customer event. The 1080 looked amazing on several of the Barco DLPs. The footage was uncompressed frames from VFX studio X, several projects.
Trying to figure out how I can get one of these in my home theater 🙂

Will it be ok to use the Sony JH-3 deck to load our footage? I’m pretty sure that it has an HD SDI out.
The answer is yes with HD SDI, otherwise you will need a converter in the mix.
Will we need tri-level sync or can we just use a blackburst generator- are there specific blackburst generators for 23.98?
Tri-level for HD will work best.
If we are shooting HDCAM with the Sony F900, should we load as 10 bit HD or 8 bit?

What the tape says it can do and what the camera and deck can do are 2 different things, and how the data is recorded to tape is another. Regular HDCam is 3:1:1 10-bit HDCAM CAMERA master is 3:1:1 @ 8bitSooooo….
*Are you mixing any other content with this, heavy on effects, going back out to film??? These are the things that will generally get a better response to the question.How much storage is required for 1 hour of HD footage?
24p at 1080 RGB 3TB will give you 201 minutes
24p at 1080 YUV 3TB will give you 350 minutesroughly 880Gb for 60 minutes of RGB
*But remember it’s not about the capacity it’s about the thruput of the combined drives that you should focus on.
Once we’ve captured our media, can the Kona card downconvert to SD on the fly so that we can view our project on an SD monitor as we edit, then rent a VTR when we have locked our cut and are ready to output?
