Thanks Juan.
Yeah it will do but bringing an imac on set is quite cumbersome. I guess there’s no choice but to go 15 inch then. Thanks a lot.

I agree. An alternative to prores is clearly needed – hopefully just in time for CS6.5? Although Avid DnxHD exists – it still relies on a quicktime wrapper which is a bit of a pain when working with Windows OS machines. I hope Adobe comes up with a codec that is both smooth for Windows and Mac – preferably a different container.

As Walter and Tom suggested, you need to increase the read/write access to your drive. I haven’t tried working with a RAID 1 setup with RED footage so I couldn’t comment on that. However I used to encounter the same problem (with RED footages) working on a RAID 0 dual 2 TB internal drives that is until I switch to an external hardware RAID solution.
Try to look into products by GTECH and Caldigit.

I am also looking forward to this card as well. I am hoping that 4K monitors would reach around US 10K next year as soon as the manufacturing and competition from various brand picks up; then we’ll be able to put this card to the test – 4K editing and 4K monitoring.

[Tom Daigon] ” I am downloading in preparation of the Z820 arrival.”
Hi Tom, ours arrived a week ago! Still doing a bit of tweaking inside. Also I can vouch for the Microsoft Security Essentials as weell, that’s what I’ve installed.
I’ve just installed red rocket the other day. Just finished installing Avid Symphony today. Tomorrow I’m installing the CS6 Production Suite.
I’m pretty excited to test this one. Although I am an avid newbie – mostly for stereoscopic workflow reasons, I’m excited to learn new stuff.
I plan on putting Premiere Pro CS6 through its paces – especially handling Red Epic files, been mostly doing Premiere work for corporate AVPs.
I’m still waiting for the E-sata 3 PCIE express card I’ve ordered. The Z820 has no Esata option to speak of, and I plan on connecting a GSPEED 8TB raid via Esata.

March 18, 2012 at 2:49 am in reply to: How convert Full SBS 3D to both left and Right eyes with Premiere Pro?There is no way to isolate the left and right image image though Cineform unless Cineform itself was used “muxed” or create it. My best recommendation is use Dashwood plugins. You may have to get a macbookpro though.

March 14, 2012 at 4:42 pm in reply to: How convert Full SBS 3D to both left and Right eyes with Premiere Pro?If you are on a MAC and if you have a copy of Adobe After Effects, you might try looking into Dashwood Stereo 3D Toolbox – https://www.dashwood3d.com/stereo3dtoolbox.php
The plugin allows you to isolate a side by side input to either the left and or the right eye only. That way, you can isolate each eye and export a master file separately.
If you are on Windows, well I am not sure if this would work but I suggest you look into Vegas software – which has built in stereo filters.
The current STEREO workflow for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 relies on a plugin called Cineform. I have a working Neo 3D license and I think there’s no way to isolate either the left and right if the file has not been muxed or created inside CIneform itself.

What exactly is the error message?

Yeah, I second that!
Cineform is still ok with me. I Have Cineform Neo 3D. And am doing a 6 minute stereoscopic project to be shown on a Museum here in the Philippines. Purely using Cineform Codec. (Live materials shot on RED ONE on a side by side rig, converting all CG Materials to Stereo using Nuke.)
I can’t wait for NAB 2012, looking forward to how Adobe integrates IRIDAS in their workflow. 🙂
