  • May be VITC time code. The machine may be changing to the VITC when it stops. That could make it think it needed to go to another location. If it’s that, it would be a machine setting.

Last year I needed to resurrect a bunch of archive recordings, we made for the Boston Symphony, to use in their “virtual summer season”. After a quick rewind/fforward, I played the tapes into a monitor that records to a file card. It’s a hardware codec and less likely to glitch. Any monitor Black Magic, Atomos, etc. should work. If you’re really worried about it, use a frame sync. That should be pretty bulletproof.

I don’t work with Premire but… If you use a “:” before your last two digits in the start time, it’s NOT drop frame. 29:97 fps and 59:94 fps are drop frame. Try using a “;”

    It may be that

    Nick,

Still waiting for the V3 release…. Much of the things discussed in this thread were “vaporware” at NAB two years ago! The Key Pro is a good box and as someone else mentioned, it can replace a tape machine in many situations. Work flow is critical and having to shut down, unmount, plug-in, power up, and mount a drive gets to be a bit much. Especially when you’re looking at a firewire 400 and 800 port that doesn’t do anything!

Will stop by at NAB to pick up my V3 release in April.

Just saw this thread. I think it’s unfortunate that AJA (who make great stuff) abandoned the Key Pro “big” so quickly. I too was under the impression that the features promised in the 2.0 release were “coming soon”.

Much of what the min can do is also available from Atomos Ninja for less $$!

Let’s hope AJA will get back to the “big” soon. They’re already up to version 2.6 for the “mini”!
